Attaching the cockpit view of the 2010 A6 as well to see how it goes against the 5 & E cockpits.
Boy! , Audi's interior is really worthy of being termed as a "cockpit" as it really seems to give that feel. So many red lights & buttons. I doubt whether it exudes luxury like the Beemer or Merc though.

yup...true. In that case we can expect to see some really sexy pair of alloys on the f10

Fat chance of 19s coming to India. Not only will they break your back, but also, BMW will stick to the currently offered 18 inchers on the top-end.

As Akshay posted, Mercedes opted for 17 inchers keeping ride quality in mind. Comfort is their forté. If I were to buy such a car for my folks, first thing I'd do is downgrade the wheel size to 15 or 16 inch.

Boys, you can keep on having polls etc to conclude which is a better car.
But let me tell you the Merc is back and how.
And no, its not about looks or performance. Its about the traditional benz qualities which were sometimes missed during the decade.

I use the new E class in Amsterdam and it is every bit the mercs of yore that I love. The 5 & 6 (audi) may keep on competing on which drives best etc or looks best.

But the new E has just been revitalized with the benz DNA and I love it. This car really has got a lot of character.

Good enough. Did see a the design of a couple of 18inchers on the F10 and they look stunning.

The new 5 is just brilliant, making amends for the bulky look of the current 5, whereas the new E has some clumsiness in its design, from the dual headlamp to the attempt to create a retro rear fender line.

I would pick one each from all the segments:
A4 better than 3-series better than C-class
New 5-series better than upcoming A6 better than E-class
S-class better than 7-series better than A8

Now time to wake up to reality and go for a drive in my Swift :(

I'm going with the E. There's something special about it. I can't explain it and its something that draws my attention better than the Beemer. I daresay its the classier of the two.

i feel i should have entered the 2012 A6 in the poll as well. Perhaps would have made it more interesting. Wasnt sure if everyone was informed about and had seen the initial impressions of the future A6. This forum leaves me wanting......wanting for the months to fly by and come oct/nov 2010, i could expect to spot a black E350 w212 at some traffic signal on the front row and guess what, its joined by none other than a white f10 535 right beside is as if taunting it with those halo rings illuminated ...saying "you can run, but you cant hide" :P lolz....my imagination is surely doing wonders !!!! cant wait !!!!

I love the new E. Seen a couple of them around on road in Mumbai. It looks a lot better on road than in the pictures. It has grace and presence. Liked the edgy front & the rear end. Also, Mercedes have done a good job of keeping the huge grille still relevant over the years.
But there is something about the Beemer. The long bonnet, the sweeping C Pillar, the Hofmeister Kink, and the short boot. The looks itself convey the purpose. I haven't seen the car on road. But going purely by the 7 series for reference (that car has just awesome presence on road with the enlarged kidney grille and taut looks) since the new 5 carries a similar DNA, I voted for the Beemer.

It just pains me to think that a majority of the new 5-series cars sold in India will be chauffer driven as is the new E-cars are. What is the point of a comparison?.

u could have a point there but i suppose a majority of people on TeamBHP who would go for the Beemer would drive it simply because, being car lovers, they would have a fair idea of Beemer's characteristics as a car made to be driven and not driven around in. People who want to be chauffeur driven would go for the Merc wouldnt they ? I am not saying everyone would do just this, but i can say that would be the general trend unless there is some genuine Merc hater who hates to drive as well and just wants to spend money on a big car. In that case such a person might opt for an Audi,Beemer or even Volvo perhaps
Take my case, we (my family) are SURELY going for the Beemer in the next year and a half considering it would arrive here only by the end of this year. Though today we realize the situation of traffic in the city, we literally die everyday clutching and breaking in bumper-to-bumper traffic and swear up give to driving, the very next day, we are all ready to go through all of it again. Another point being, though there are hardly any roads to exploit the humongous power these cars possess, we would still be opting 1 among the 530d OR 535i. Just for the sheer love of cars and driving. So , though everyone's case would be different, general trend here would be, drivers would go for beemer's where as "back seat drivers" :P would go for Mercs
