Very well put! Exactly my thoughts, having driven both.
Currently own the E60 and the F10 only makes me work hard to aim for a segment higher upgrade as IMO, the F10 would not be much of an upgrade . Although I might get a few things I wished for in the E60 such as better interiors and comfort but at the loss of BMW's aggressive characteristics and handling, thats too much of a trade-off.

Just chanced upon this Thread and what an awesome one it is. I have had the dilemma in 2011 when I had to choose between BMW 5 or E Class .. Swung towards the E at the last minute .. On and off I wonder how it would have been with BMW but with My Merc have had no issues at all. Even after 7 years the car has aged gracefully and drives like new
