Bomi,

You da man. Thanks for that.

Ok, so current Octavia it is.

In terms of the Rider vs. the RS its just going to come down to a cost/ benefit. Whatever gets me the result I want for the least $$$.

Oh come on guys, 1.8 Turbo with 150bhp and 1.8 n.a. with 140bhp...your turbo running at over 7 psi means you have a 50% increase in power, so your precious 1.8 Skoda engine originally produced only about 100bhp...
That's a point everybody is missing. It's pointless comparing a TC'd car with a NA one.

What i'd like to see is an RS go against a TC'd Civic (or even a TC'd City).

Poonawala's TC'd City 1.5 will do a 0-150 in 17.** secs. The RS in comparison takes 20.**.

As far as performance goes, it makes more sense talking TC vs TC.

Shan2nu...The octy's got more safety and luxury features so its definately heavier than the City. I would say the octy would be more stable than the city at speeds excess of 150-180kmph

as it is known that Japanese people make the best engines. It wouldnt be surprising to see a less powered Turbo charged civic or a 130-140 hp normal civic beat the octavia RS.

But while Europeans also make good engines what they excel in is the over car qualities. The civic can never be as stable and reliable as a skoda octavia which is built on Audi-Wolkswagon platform.

Hence both remain to be very good cars in their own ways.

if for you looks are more important than all thefeatures then DEFINATELY go in for the civic, coz its looks very very very evilishly wild.
But other than that. .. .there no comparision between both of them, i mean the skoda beats the civic hands down, in all aspects. . . .

With regard to the looks I'd give the Skoda the nod. The Civic sedan looks pretty sedate to me, from the outside at least. Love the interiors though.

Now the Civic coupe & hatch are another story. I go for either in a heartbeat, sadly there is no way we'll see them in India...

hey Amit
You're right ,no 1.8T for North America, but the new Polo GTi that was launched at the Tokyo Motor Show is now sporting the 1.8T 150 horse motor.

BTW where in Toronto do you work? Might be in Missusaga next month.

hey Mpower, I am working for Cedarbrae VW in Markham, Toronto. PM me when you are coming down to Missisauaga and we can meet up. VW gives me the choice of picking up any of the used cars on their lot for my personal transportation, fuel paid courtsey dealership. In fact, tomorrow I am driving down to Missisauga to meet up with a friend. Do Pm me and we can schedule something.
