Strange if Maruti decided that a car is selling tremendously because it sold highest in one particular month. For entire last year 2005 (in fact 2 consecutive years), Santro has very comprehensively beaten Wagon-R on sales chart. Even if you look at November 2005 sales, 30% more Santros were than Wagon-Rs. Author of that financialexpress article has conveniently used December 05 numbers to declare Wagon-R as highest selling B-segment car.

Well you know how some journalists are, they predicted MUL buying GE a few days ago. But the wagon is sure catching up...
Remember the hyundai AD campaign last year comparing santro with swift.
Well customers compared the two and went for the swift....
This is a classic case of "Phairon phe khuladhi maarna".
They seem to be bungling up santro sales to save the getz, which is going nowhere anyway.

Its not the December sales, but the overall percentage change since last year. The change is negative in Santro and Zen and positive in WagonR.
I always viewed it as a very underrated car. Now that SRK is getting Old and no longer advertising for Santro, and WagonR looks going down slightly well with general public, the trend is going upwards. And we all know, most of the good cars dont do well in sales chart anyway (Palio being a classic example)

Again, not exactly true.
Wagon-R market share raised up from 7.8 -> 9.7, which is change of 1.9%.
Santro market share raised from 11.0 -> 12.8, which is change of 1.8%.
Zen though continues to lose its share 6.9 -> 4.5.

If MUL wants to call something as tremendous success, it is Alto, which has taken a bite from everyone's pie (including good old 800).

Hyundai Santro

December 2004 sales: 9200
December 2005 sales: 6691

% change= (6691-9200)/9200*100

= -27.27 %

Suzuki WagonR

December 2004 sales: 7102
December 2005 sales: 8027

% change= (8027-7102)/7102*100

= +13 %

3.89 for this tin box on wheels(no offences to anyone)... 3.99 lakhs or there abts for the swift lx which has AC and Power steering as standard! They are making huge money on their small cars and a fortune on the Zen.
Primea lacks essentials like a rear defogger and power windows.... and has the most insipid looking alloys and tyre combo ever on a car... Bull$hit!

I agree. I was against the WagonR when My dad booked one.
But the WagonR grows on you as time passes.

GOod FE,Good Power, space and technology are all good for a small car. NOt really any glitches except that long stick gearbox.

Japan's best seller is a bit old now but IF swift is out of reach them the WagonR is the best buy.

I've enquired about WagonR Primea at MUL dealerships, but failed to get a lucid reply.

I've some questions related with WagonR Primea...

Is it still available ?

Is it better to go for swift lxi with that money ?

ANyway IMO the new wagonR vxi is a much better product than the Primea.

I like the new WagonR's external profile, would like to trade-in my M800 for a WagonR Vxi ABS.

Is it a good buy ??

definitly good buy. But i dont think ABS is such a big necessity in a A2 segment car. Its mainly meant for city driving, breaks are pretty good anyways, i dont think one needs ABS in a small car.
