streetlife, have you clicked the last pic while driving?
I hope you were not moving at the time

Hi, contrary to the original belief that the new swift is coming somewhere around april next year, I found articles written recently stating that it will come in the end of 2011!!:Shockked:
eg
New Maruti Swift in 2011, product lines to be reoriented - The Economic Times

This article only says after july 2011, but I remember reading one stating 2011 end.

apparently maruti suzuki managing executive producer MM Singh said that.

Guys, any updates?

Looks like it is still on those skinny tyres :Frustrati

Found this article on Autocarindia website, its about the neext gen swift dzire which will be launched late 2011.

First of all, I really hope that the new dzire does not look as odd ball as the current one.

Secondly, if this news is true then we will have quite a few sedans that have been/will be modified to measure under 4 meter in length. The trend that was started by the indigoCS seems to have caught up with the other manufacturers as well. Let us see how the Logan CS and the Dzire CS turn out to be. As for the relaxation in excise it is a good news for buyers though I may like to point out that the cut in duty wasn't passed on to the buyers when the swift k12 was launched.

Regards.

Partially because, The high-tech K12 is a pretty expensive engine.

I dont think this is beacuse the Indigo CS set a trend ! This is purely because of Etios pricing and the number of bookings that made Maruti think about all ways to get a competitive pricing. When I mentioned before the launch of Etios that I would like to see a pricing of 4.99 L ex.showroom, one of the bhpians responded saying what's the point in that kind of pricing !

This is exactly the point ! :) I was so happy to see a 4.96 L ex showroom price and I guess they have kept that 3000/- odd bucks buffer to increase the price of the car once the raw material prices increases and will still manage to show "Prices start @ 4.99 L ex showroom"

I am so wonder stuck that Maruti is not thinking of improving the quality of materials used / equipment levels, but rather are focused on reducing the length !

Edit: Any market which doesnt have a monopoly will give you the best options / choices and I believe India is heading there which is really a great news for us "consumers". I am really looking forward to see how much dent Toyota will make in Maruti's bank account.

Maruti hiked the prices of all its models except for the K12 Swift. So, the price cut has been passed on to the customer

I think Maruti has woken up now. They have realized that if anyone can give them a run, it is only the Japanese big guns like Toyota/Honda. When Indigo CS was launched, it did not impact Dzire nor did Manza. However, Etios must be giving MSIL sleepless nights and hence the possibility of a under 4M sedan. I think this will be a bad move as the car will look bad with lesser space. Instead, I think Maruti should focus on providing better features and comfort and space at existing prices. Consumers will clearly see the benefits and buy into the Maruti trust and A**.

Infact, they hiked the prices by 2.5k rupees with the launch of the K12 Swift.

I also do hope that the new Swift gets VVT in the 1.2 engine. No confirmation yet from Maruti/anyone regarding that though.
Weight of current Swift P ZXi - 1010 kg.
Fully optioned new Swift (I believe would be equivalent to ZXi) - 1005 kg.

Maybe. Any idea if the benefit is being passed on the buyers of Ritz K-12??

.

Yeah. I guess VVT K-12 should take care of the Kappa2 (no offense to Hyundai owners). Fingers crossed.

Guys, any updates?

Correct information I believe. Some dealers in my place have confirmed this. With a number of other launches, consumers will have a wider choice by then. Hope Etios diesel will be out by then. The fabia based sedan is another contender.

^^But I dont think that the fabia-sedan will do as good as etios and s-dezire because of skoda!!
Btw, does anyone have any updates on the new swift (hatch) launch date???
Thanks

My friend had booked a swift vdi in December 10 with one of the dealers around. He was told that the car will be delivered in April. Just after 15days, he received a call apparantly from the dealer saying that they have received about 100 cars under a special scheme and will be able to deliver one of these to him if he chooses to buy accessories worth about Rs. 40000.

What is is this special scheme when the customers are standing in que? Have anyone heard of anything like this? Or is the long que for swift getting dried up? Or the dealer is trying to make hay when the waiting list shines? Should my friend say yes? Please advice.

Ask him to call the regional office of MSIL and report the matter. Dealer is just trying to act smart, nothing else.

And 40000 is not a small amount. Maybe your friend was not planning to spend such an amount on accessories so why he should do it now??

Also, the sale of accessories will only benefit the dealer. No such scheme can be launched by the manufacturer. If he has cars available with him, he should deliver them.
A call to the regional office should be enough to set the dealer straight. At least it has worked in most dealer/service related cases I know of.
