'We will be launching five cars in India, starting from mid-2011 to mid-2013. We will also launch a small car in the Indian market in 2012," said Marc Nassif, country general manager, Renault India, on the sidelines of an automobiles conference.

The company plans to launch its premium car Fluence and the Koleos in the domestic market in mid-2011

'All the cars, including the small car will be produced at the Nissan factory in Chennai,' Nassif added.

But I am happy that Ford is bringing new cars to us Indians. Cant wait to see, what they will be announcing.

I remember reading sometime back that Renault has put all its expansion plans on hold and is planning to pack its bags.
This is surely news to me. Of course there was this kind of news even before but they denied it later and said they were packing bags

Just read now that Renault-Nissan had appointed Kou Kimura as the new CEO, MD for Renault-Nissan Operations in Chennai.
Guess this is the result of some aggressive expansion targets to be met in India.

A made-for-india small car,Renault Clio and the Megane?Megane could be in the Vento,Fiesta space.

Really disappointing and sad that I could not see the Renault Duster in the list. I was expecting a true world class entry level SUV at below 10 lakhs pricing.

this article is mostly to do with a Management Announcement. There is no confirmation or otherwise about which cars exactly they are planning to bring in over 2011,2012 and 2013. Other than the Fluence and Koleos the only other car that's been in the news is the Duster. And someone from Renault Corporate mentioned (also on the net) that the Duster launch in India is under discussion.

Renault seems to have updated their website, following page has their upcoming models lineup.
I see..

Fluence - June 2011
Koleos - October 2011
Clio - January 2012
Duster - July 2012
Clio sedan / V platform sedan? - September 2012

Their site actually is very good looking. 5 cars in about one year is a difficult task. Let's see how they manage it.

The Fluence shown in the picture above it the Zero Emission Electric variant.

What needs to seen is how Renault prices its cars, and how soon can it set up dealer network which itself is an uphill task.There is also a question that will Renault be a low maintenance vehicles or high and would have low reliability which would be bad for its resale value.The Fluence would set the precedence for pricing but for me the Koleos appears to be a more importnat model and would taste success if priced in the 15-17 lac range,as it is high time suvs become cheaper and affordable.

In an related but off topic bit, I saw a white Fluence being tested at the Yelagiri hills on Saturday, Since it was travelling opposite me could not take pictures.

The badges were taped but rest of the automobile was normal. It looks almost the size of Civic, it could be a tad larger. It was a fleeting glance at the Car so i could be wrong

The Wind looks a nice change for the Indian customer.
Why not try something different rather than competing with the others on already existing types?
Renault Twizy? Can they try this? Say a 2 lakh rupee city car?
They sure have got a lot of models up their stable.
The Twizy and Wind could be their game changers though

Twizy will make for a good city car provided Renault give it with full doors and launch it in India! Its still a distant dream for us though. Maybe Renault could replace the electric powertrain with a smaller petrol/diesel motor and voila - a good city car is here! Still cant beat the electric variant though. It is as fun as things can get.
