Re: Mahindra's new launches for 2011-2012

^^ Guys, S102 will not have 140 BHP, it will be around the 90 BHP mark. Still lot of tweaking going on.

I need one help from you guys, regarding the scorpio purchase. Could you please let me know if any updates are going to happen for current scorpio, if so then what is the approximate date of launch? I plan to buy one soon (target is VLX 4X4 at the earliest), if any updated scorpio is on the way then I am ready to wait for another 3-4 months, or is it better to go with the current one itself?
Main check point is like if there is an updated scorpio then
1. will it get roof mounted A/C vents?
2. will there be any increase in leg room etc... I am 6.4ft tall, so even a few mm will count for me
3. will there be disc break all round the wheels like in XUV
4. will the front power window switches get placed on the doors
5. will there be complete black interior
6. will there be an LX with ABS option available soon? If so I will go for this
7. I am not keen on scorpio's weight reduction etc... I drive a max speed of 80-90KM/Hr even on open highway, current one seems to be OK with me
Other than these I am perfectly OK with the current one, can any one please clarify?
Thanks and Regards
Manoj

SC/DC must mean Single cab/double cab, so it's definitely a pick up version.
BTW, curious to know about the next gen Scorp. especially as there is no sightings or scoop pics of the same.

As far as I have heard, it is based on a heavily modified platform of the current Scorpio. So it can be assumed that it will be a ladder on frame chassis and not a monocoque, which is a good thing.

Secondly, it will be a completely new car and not a small upgrade like the Safari Strome. The body will be new and Mahindra is focusing on improving the cabin space and ride quality. I expect the new Scorpio to be bigger and also loaded with more features.

I am vehemently against a monocoque for the Scorp too, but the present platform definitelt needs some serious work.
It's compromised from day one as it's too short in length and tall in height.
That has to be rectified for the present dynamics of Scorp to improve.

As per Hormazd in Autocar, the new Scorpio will be based on the current platform and hence will be LOF and not a monocoque. However the entire body will be new and Mahindra is focussing on improving the interior spacing which has been the drawback of Scorpio.

Yes, interior packaging and the ride/handling are the only thorns in the otherwise good package.
Good thing that the Scorp is still BOF layout, considering that a good percentage of the buyers are rural/suburban folks.

The new Scorpio sounds interesting. So any news on when it's likely to be launched?

I agree. The Scorpio's tall height and relative narrow track compromises its ride quality. IMO, they should increase the width marginally (~better headroom) and decrease the height thereby reducing body roll and solving some of the UV's present shortfalls. The Scorpio would be then good to stay here for another 4-5 years before an expensive complete revamp.

I did not know its this easy to lift the body off from the frame. Came across this scorpio at the local M&M service center.

The Scorpio, as far as I know, isn't a monocoque. It's built on a ladder-frame chassis.
