What should be the price of:

Polo Highline 1.2 (Petrol)
March 2011
Delhi Registration
10000 kms
No insurance
Single Owner

The seller is asking for 5.25 L. I have quoted 4.25 L (carwale valuation), which he refused.

My friend is looking to buy a Amby diesel from our known source.
1996 model, TN39 registered
Single Owner
130k (Driven with care, my friend knew this car from day one)
Met with minor accident in 2004, front LH fender replaced
Got decent interiors + neat seat covers + basic ICE
Reason for sale: Not in use now (Got a used safari 3~4 months back)

Reason for my friend to buy: as a second car in family, to be used by his parents in village. Presently they have a 1994 Omni (with lot of issues), which will be replaced by this car.

What should be the right price for this amby? What are the care points to look before buying (in specific to Amby)

What can be expected for a Swift-Zxi 2007 model, run 23000kms in very good condition, in Kerala ?

Something around 270k should be the fair price considering the mileage and condition of the vehicle. BTW no. of owners?

^^^Single owner.

Carwale.com spits out the following. Are their figures usually close to real-market figures ?

Condition - Dealer - Individual
Fair - Rs.2,44,500 - Rs.2,87,000
Good - Rs.2,96,650 - Rs.3,26,400
Excellent - Rs.3,19,250 - Rs.3,40,500

I have seen carwale.com figures closer to real market value and also seen many individuals using carwale.com figures while quoting their car for sale. You can also check with Maruti true value(you will have to check with multiple true value) before fixing a price.

A year back, for my WagonR, 2006 model carwale quoted around 2.10 or 2.20 for Excellent Condition(I don't remember the exact number). True Value quoted 2.15 and I sold it for 2.25.

Some people just check with true value and then they will increase around 10K-20K from their quote.

Recently one of my friend sold his Linea(P), for him carwale quote was around 6.5 the dealer quote was 4.5 and he sold it for 5.3. So, I think for fiat cars it over estimates the quote.

keeping in mind resale value of petrol 4.25 is correct.
Also just a year and no insurance?

Age doesn't matter for an Amby, but the way it is maintained. Amby means rust in usual suspected places. Since it is 96 model, just go under the chassis to see whether this is taken care regularly.

If it is an isuzu diesel, you can ask it for <60k. Matodor engine means <40k. This is if vehicle is in decent running condition. If AC, PS fitted and in working condition, then it may be valued a bit more.

If you are keen on an Amby, do look out for those which came with disc brakes up front. It makes a difference in the safety aspect.

PS: the price i quoted was based on selling an used amby around 2 years back at Pollachi.

Carwale figures are close to realistic, but not for all cases. Petrol cars got a low resale value now-a-days and hence there will be atleast 15~20k difference for the actual figures.

If you could get a potential buyer, your car can fetch more than the carwale estimation.

PS: Above figures are confusing me, there is a 9k difference between "Fair" and "Good" condition, but how come a car in "Good" condition can fetch upto 3.26L whereas an "Excelent" condition starts with 3.19L (7k less than "Excelent")?

PM me for the True Sai (Tata Dealer in Salem, TN) used-car division's managers name/cell# - I am surely not going to invest in a A class car, dont have the dough to maintain it in long run... I was talking to him about a used santro-auto and he came up with this recomendation which I turned down...

You are confusing the Dealer and Individual figures.
Dealers buy at lower than free/fair price and sell at higher than free/fair price.
That's how they earn their living.

So a dealer will buy your vehicle of excellent condition at 3.19L.
whereas individual deals can fetch you 3.26L even at slightly worse condition.

PS: MODs - why can't I have monospaced typeface?
Can't align the columns in this default verdana font.

:Frustrati Sorry, I have mistaken. Thanks for pointing out.

hi

my friend is looking to buy a fiat linea.the details are :
a.petrol linea , emotion variant(not emotion pack)
b. year-2009 ,18000 kms run
c. second owner so my friend would be third owner
d.car is in good condition
e.current owner selling due to relocation
f. price quoted is 4.50 lakhs
is this a correct price for the mentioned car.

should he be wary on resale value after two years as the car would be getting a fourth owner?
thanks

I recently picked up a used SX4 just an year old with 10k on odo with all service history and bills preserved for a price way too lower than on carwale.

Lesson I have learnt that carwale is just a guide, we need to come out, talk to hundreds of people to fathom used car price trend. If it is petrol no need to give in to current owner, you can dictate.

I took 2 months of online / in garage / friends channels. Most frustrating was online experience. Wouls soon detail in buying experience.

Rgds.
