Is it worth going for a trade-in for the new Fiesta. |
Having looked after her so well, there's no question of saying Goodbye.
Keep the S and enjoy the experience for ,say,3 more years.

What would be a decent price to ask for a 2008 Nov FIESTA 'S' in Bangalore in fantastic condition? It has only run 32,000 km and looks and drives like a million bucks even today. The car is under warranty till this November.
Is it worth going for a trade-in for the new Fiesta. I am being advised to retain this smoking hot car. What do the regulars here have to say? Would appreciate an honest opinion |
I've been searching for a S for a long time and the ones I have seen have commanded rates from 4.25 - 4.5l. If I were you, I would keep the car but if you are really keen on selling it, please PM me.

You have been advised correctly - keep the Fiesta S for a few more years.

My dear friend,
If you are looking to sell, contact me immediately. I am looking for a 1.6S right now. And I prefer buying from TBHPians!
What would be a fair price for a 10,000 km run Vento 1.6 petrol, 2011 model?
A friend of mine is planning to buy this:
Model - Ford Fiesta EXI 1.4L
Build - May 2008
KMs driven - 23000
Color - Platinum Gold
Expected price - 3.2 L
Location - Bangalore
No accident, all services done.
Ladies and Gents need to close this deal today. Please recommend if this is a good buyplease:
From the mentioned numbers it seems to be a very good buy !
2008 - only 23000 Kms - 1.4 L proven workhorse - just 3.2 L ??
You sure there's nothing more to it ?
@Dar3devil has a point there.
The price of a Fiesta 1.4 TDCi in 2008 was more than 7L, almost 8L if he did not get any discounts. (dont remember which trim level).
And this guy is selling a 23k run Fiesta for 3.2 ?
Check cars with dealers and see how much they are quoting. IIRC, even petrol Fiesta's are priced higher.
I guess its a decent price with less kms driven, it should be a good buy.
- What is his requirements in the first place?
- How did you check if its a no accident vehicle, all services done?
- Are you buying from a dealer or individual?
If its a diesel, single owner, with all service records, and accident free, then go for it. Very good deal.
Or else, check with the Ford A.S.S. for the records, and if clean, go for it.
Please post this in the 'used cars' thread.
Although the price quoted seems mouth watering at the same time I smell something fishy. Diesel, 2008 model, run only 23K kms. Hard to believe. Is it Diesel? Since Fiesta used to be available in 1.4 petrol too isnt it?
Do ensure that you get the car thoroughly checked by an expert mechanic. Do contact the insurance guys/Workshop to enquire about any claims. If everything is in place, then you have hit a jackpot.
Thanks for all your messages. Being bought from an individual. Sort of distress sale cause he needs to leave country and wants to settle within 2 days.
Sure will get it independently checked and also get service record verified.
Are there any specific points of failure on the fiesta diesel which we need to watch out for?
Cheers,
I have almost no doubt that there is something odd about the deal. From all estimates by other car portals or from the prices of cars of these specs on sale, this is a too good to be believed offer.
I too have been the near victim of a few of such offers. Only my middle class background and the extra cautiousness that comes with it made me make more queries.
In one case a car with only 25k km on the odo was found to have 'only' run an additional 1.2 lakh km. In another it was a flood victim where the engine had water ingress. Odos can be reset for Rs 500/-
Always be wary of these too sweet deals. It can only be true if the seller is too naive, too rich ( unlikely to own such a car in the first place), or too hard pressed for cash / money.
Do the checks.
An easy giveaway of the odo tampering is the state of the rubber pads on the pedals for brake and clutch. With 20-30-50 k km, these will be fairly intact.
Apart from the service records do inspect the car personally inside and out. Check for any damage/repair. Drive and check the engine and suspension. If all looks good, go for it. The quoted price is just to grab for!
