+1 to that.

I came across a well maintained ford ikon and the dealer was quoting more than 25k premium over what he gave to the owner(who immaculately maintained it with all the service bill). I did not conclude the deal because it felt bad that someone is cashing someone else's passionate maintenance.

Agree that there are are plenty of greedy dealers but 25K premium is quite normal. It also depends on the condition of the car. Dealer will charge significant premium for a well maintained car.

If that premium means you will enjoy the car without hassles for another two years, why not pay it? ;-)

This car was paid 2 lakhs, and quoted 2.75 lakhs and he said 2.40 lakh as final.

I just called the previous owner to enquire about the price and he too was shocked!!

The premium would avoid a timing belt change and maybe an AC service but all that would cost less than 10k for this car!!

Hi Guys,
Any help will highly appreciated

I think a price around 3 to 3.5lacs should be good, considering its a petrol vehicle and has already undergone an update. How much is he quoting you right now?

Considering it to be a Petrol version-

Buyer's prospective:
Good Deal - 2.3 lakhs
Ok Deal - 2.5 lakhs
Bad deal - >2.8 lakhs:D

what do you mean, suspension needs to be worked on?
that alone could range from 4k to roundabout 25 k, just on the front end alone.

Car when going through potholes or bad patch of roads is making noises like thud-thud. Looks more like bushes going bad.
Considering it is 1.6 Petrol, the resale value has to be less hence this query.

For a car that has done 50k kms I wouldn't assume just bushes going bad. You should price in the worst i.e. a full front suspension overhaul.

A full suspension overhaul should cost somewhere around 25k, In that case what should be a good deal for the car?

^^ At the A** you may end up paying 25k but if you know of a good independent garage then the job can be done for around 15k. Re. a good price for the car - I really do not have enough knowledge about Ford cars. However by general depreciation principles somehwere around 2.8 should be a good deal. So even if you spend 15k on suspension and another 12k on insurance you would end up paying 3.05L in total. Which in my opinion should be a fair price. If you REALLY like it maybe 10k more. But most definitely do not go beyond that.

:D
dont go to anybody but ford for such components.
bulbs, wipers, yes.
but engine, suspension, no.

Get the suspension checked to see the extent of repair required.
adjust the cost quoted accordingly.
price seems fair enough.

A colleague of mine wants to sell his 1.5 year old Estilo (new version with K10 engine) black VXi. What is the best he can expect in Blr market given that the car is fully loaded with a Sony ICE and leather type seat fabric.

Can any Bangalore Altis owners chip in with their OTR prices in 2009/2010 ?

Bumping this up to get some more opinions.
Car details:
- Corolla Altis GL
- single-owner, company registered in Feb 2010
- confirmed Toyota warranty until Feb 2013
- location is Bangalore
- run ~26K KMS
- current OTR for new car in Bangalore is ~17L

Dealer is quoting 9.99L all-inclusive.
What do you folks think ?
