Hello all,
There is 2009 skoda Superb 1.8 tsi,it has done 24000 kms. He is asking for 15 L. He has not taken skoda shield.
My monthly run is 500 to 1000 kms range. I believe this car gives about 8km/l
Superb owners, a query..is the drive hard (bad for the back?). (low seating cars give me trouble)
would i incur any major repairs, which insurance companies can refuse to pay?
Thanks in advance

First of all I would stay away from this car if this has auto transmission. Automatic Transmission petrol Superbs have the infamous 7 speed dry DSG gearbox. There is virtually one gearbox failing every fortnight on this very forum itself. Cost of new gearbox is upwards of 5L and no the insurance does not cover it. Don't think Skoda Shield was around back in 2009.
Second even if this is an MT then also the price is too high. It should be around 11L. Otherwise Superb is an excellent vehicle. The seat has all kind of adjustments (including lumbar support) and a very good suspension so this should not be bad for your back. It has low seating though.

Price seems high - not sure about kochi, but in Delhi you can get a BMW or a merc petrol for around the same price and similar mileage. But again, I don't know if cars cost more there. I would rather go for a bimmer unless you are going to be driven, in which case superb is an excellent choice.

Given the current market trend, this price is too high for a 3-yr old petrol Superb anywhere in India.
And if it has the DSG, then it is definitely not worth, due to the high risk of DSG failure in the petrol Superbs.

Hello Desidino, Both Jazz & Ritz are great cars for your parents. But you gotta ask some questions to yourself.
For how long do you plan to keep the car? 2-3 years, then go for the Jazz. If 5-6 years, then go for Ritz.
Why? Because I dont think the Jazz will be in production for the next 5-6 years. The Jazz sales is about 500 units a month. So you never know when Honda pulls the plug!! The Civic news came as a shock for many:Shockked:
The Jazz is a very spacious car. But do your parents need a very spacious car? If Yes, go for Jazz.Else go for Ritz.
As far as Cost of Ownership goes, a Maruti is easier to maintain than a Honda.I guess 3.75L-4L is a fair price for a Jazz. So you will be saving about 1L by buying a used Jazz compared to a New Ritz.
I hope I have not confused you more.
Regards,
Varun

i think, carwale valuation is too low for the given example and a more reasonable price should be 4 lac +/- 10k which still makes it a very good deal given you are getting a like new car which would last forever and is going to cost you only 50% of the original cost (new Jazz select costs 6.7 lac - a friend bought few weeks ago).
Thanks powertrain and infotech ! This does bring the used jazz in contention.. Will ask my folks to have a look at the jazz and then decide between it and the ritz.. THE big factor in favour of ritz is that its a maruti.. And in tier 2 and 3 cities, that sometimes makes all the difference..
Hi please let me know what should I pay for:-
Toyota Fortuner 2010 August has run 70000 Km's, New Tyres.
What should be a good price for well maintained civic done around 40k Kim's and four year old. Does it make sense to buy a second hand civic now. Parts may become an issue somewhat like baleno

Since you have not mentioned about the condition of the car I take it as a car which is maintained in an average manner. Pay anything between 13.2 to 15 lakhs. If it is really well maintained and is in pristine condition 15.5 should be the maximum.
@ Rameshdude- By any chance are you discussing about the following car on BHP Classifieds?
http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-...a/Superb.html/
In any event 15 lakhs for petrol superb (2009) is really high no matter how well it has been maintained

Yes,Gautam,
I am talking about the same car. Will take a look again possibly this sunday.
in case it may serve as a reference price point to someone:
stopped by a used car dealer near my home this morning after i noticed a linea parked there, it was a petrol linea (02/2009, top end, full insurance till mid 2013, VIP number - 8000), test drove it and it was in good shape. single owner, 49k on ODO, full service history available, and asking price is 3.6 lac negotiable. got a feeling that the price could easily be brought down to 3.2-3.3 at least.

top end petrol linea for 3.6 :Shockked:? What is this world coming to!
Are you sure it was not accidental or something?
I similarly got a quote of 3.5 for a 2009 Punto Diesel emotion. I am yet to see the car. But if the car is in good shape i think its a good deal.

i am almost sure it was a non accidental car, still on original tyres and with tiny scratches on bumpers. interior was not in the most clean state and car was not made up. also checked the papers for any insurance claims. original invoice amount of this linea was 9.6 lac and the latest insurance renewal was done with IDV of 4.65 lac.
btw, are you talking about the PB regd. punto i PMd about? have you managed to bring down the price?
