Absolutely, that too . But that's a little hard to explain to all the non-warrior folks here, so skipped it.

That's Maneesh Reddy, right? I don't know, he seems ok... I bet TBHPian lefthanddrive will have a definitive opinion on him.

I mentioned two other manufacturers in the same breath, none of the others have taken umbrage as you have. My angst was with BSM, not with the manufacturer of the vehicle you drive. It so happens that I had to mention their name. I know you guys are touchy, but allow us to occassionally mention that hallowed-by-thy-name....

We have talked about a lot of other things on this thread - did you have an opinion only when the 'F' word was mentioned?

The issue was not sound, but vibrations. Sound hasnt been an issue on this vehicle.

As I mentioned, the vehicle seems to have smoothened out after the latest 'software upgrade'. However, top speed is STILL limited to 140 kmph took Al Scud Dud on a speed run today to check, but while the vehicle will do 3300 rpm in 3rd and cross 3000 on 4th, it JUST WONT BUDGE beyond 2,300 rpm on 5th - its electronically locked and the needle is ROCK STEADY at that level no matter how much you stand on the throttle. This is so frustrating, particularly because the car is rock steady, silent and ready for much more.

Psycho! Bachao!

If Jermey Clarkson had made this statement and if it had angered some people, we would be asking those guys to take Jermey's statements in the right spirit.

Same on my Ikon. Checked with Normally_Crazy on this and he confirmed this was normal. I was unable to push my car above 140 kmph in 5th gear and enen I was standing on the throttle. I could downshift to 4th and then speed up beyond 140 kmph. Reading Normally_Crazy's explanation, I was assured this was normal based on Ikon's torque curve.

If I remember, the rpm was well over 4500 in 5th gear at those speeds. (The Ikon peaks at 4000). Hence, your case of just 2300 rpm in 5th seems strange. Am I missing something here ? How much can you do in 4th ?

Crossed 3,000 doing 120 on 4th. Shifted to 5th and the revs fell to 2k, went on to register 2300 @ an indicated 150 (true 140, I would guess) and refused to go beyond that. Infuriating!

Yeah man - sometimes we forget that 1947 happened.

If tata has put in a speed limiter(which seems to be the case since 4th gear takes you above 2300rpm) try messing with your speedo cable. See if you can go faster.
If they figured out 2300rpm@5th = 140 and put a limiter there, then you need to do some software upgrade. How easily does it reach 140kmph? less than 40 seconds?

1. The throttle is electronic. No cable to fool around with.

2. Its probably a software limiter on their new 32-bit chip, though some knowledgeable people say its a matter of finding the right wire and cutting it (!!!) I wish cars didnt have electronics.

3. The vehicle reaches 120 pretty fast (I dont check 0-whatever timings) but its slower from 120 to 140 basically because you have to shift down to 5th.
