Japanese auto major Nissan is working on to bring its luxury arm Infiniti into India and is considering launching the upcoming Q30 compact luxury vehicle as one of its first offerings in the country. With the German luxury trio Mercedes, Audi and BMW posting best sales ever and rival Toyota also working on to launch its Lexus range, it should come as no surprise that Nissan has shown interest to capture a significant chunk of the growing Indian luxury car market with the Infiniti brand.

A blend of three body styles namely coupe, crossover and hatchback, the Infiniti Q30 is targeted at the younger generation looking at premium yet exciting products in the segment. The compact luxury segment is not only booming in India, but has also captured the fancy of the young-affluent all over the world. With products like the A-Class and B-Class doing great numbers, automakers are certainly encouraged to bring more compact vehicles to the country. The Q30 will be competing with products like the Mercedes A-Class, BMW 1-Series, Audi A3 hatchback as well as the BMW X1 crossover, Audi Q3 and the Volvo V40 Cross Country in the segment.

The upcoming Infiniti Q30 hatchback and QX30 crossover, which are due for their international debuts in 2015, are being evaluated for the Indian market.
Both models are expected to debut internationally in 2015.

Local aasembly will be through the CKD route due to the high import duties In CBU's.

Its high time Infiniti came into the Indian market. I'm sure their reliability will be a major plus point and could take away a chunk of the market held by the Germans on that alone. Marketing is a key element here.

Looking forward to their entry in 2015 and if they do fine, I will probably buy one in 2016.

I'd be happy but surprised if Infiniti enters India. Cars like the G35/G37 are crazy fun, but at the price point who wouldn't want a German badge along with all the fun?

Infiniti cars have a very love it/hate it design language. I absolutely love the design of the FX50 (now QX70). Some cannot fathom the look of it, and some (like me) like it just for the way it looks.

In fact, I am considering importing a RHD 2010 FX50 (with 3.0 diesel) from UK to Finland and eventually get it down to India. plans are plans... I hope I can make it work.

Spotted this Dubai registered Infiniti QX56 in Andheri last week. It looked like a Landcruiser from far. It did look a bit odd to me since the headlights and tail lights seem to have been taken from a sedan.

Spotted it again at the lobby of St. Regis Hotel at the Palladium. The valet was having issues switching off lights but he managed it after a few attempts.

Also saw the Ferrari California T on display outside the Rolls Royce showroom. There was a massive crowd surrounding the car so couldn't manage to take any pictures.
