Speedway 2011 : Mumbai drag races on 22nd & 23rd January!

Was this during the Harbor Area testing that he used to do? I said this as he wants to buy a R1 and then ride it at 40 for its entire life.

This was in 2004. It was the beginning of the bike project.

Was picked up by M&M as a fresh BE Mech grad but thanks to a stupid lucky draw system, I landed in a department I didn't want. A few bikes were imported by our department and I knew they would be tested. Somehow i managed to get myself incharge of testing the bikes

on the condition of preparing a FE and performace report. Did a lot of Mumbai-Gujarat runs. Once we did a very amateurish 0-60 timing run in Mumbai with your dad. I was riding behind him from Worli to Sewree and I swore not to do it again. I dont think he was too fast, but he was rash (may be because we were all in test mode and wanted to push the machines to the limit).

I did almost a a yearlong stint at M&M. My association with this project was the most enjoyable part of it.

EDIT: Do you really think he is slow?

Good participation from the bikes. There were loads of superbikes. But poor participation from the foreign category cars. Just the SL55 AMG and Bentley GT. Also the Evo X and a couple of Supras.

The guys on the HD's were not racing. It was just a parade showing all the models.

HAHA!! I dont think so. He has become very gingerish on a two wheeler. I do want to see him do a proper drag run with a car though. I bet he would be blisteringly fast.

Just got this piece of news. ALL cars run again tomorrow. special knockout challenge between top 3 of all categories race each other for an additional prize. everyone else gets to do timed runs.

Heres a video of one of Jitu's run in the B16 turbo OHC. I dont remember the exact timing but it was 13.XX.

, will look out for it again today.

Loved the EVO's 5s and 6s, there were many of them, forgot to click the pics. Didnt the RX8 run? saw one in the pits, also saw what i thought was Gemballa's Kleeman E torque monster. Loved the BOVs on the civics and the evos, hope some one got the videos. A Zen did 14.XX, the game over boys were missing, also missing were participants from Bangalore. None of the GS's cars ran.

here is the 1st batch of pics, starting with the scene at the entrance. Didnt click a lot of pics as the phone was running on low battery. That is the Nissan Cefiro and a black Supra at the start. The sweetest sounding car was the AR motorsport blue H22 Civic with bov's making an amazing hiss. Saw a black mustang in the pits, not sure it participated. The Focus RS had a run along with a SL55. Also one of the Zens was driven superbly clocking 14.XX seconds many times even with what looked like worn out tyres. A diesel Merc E clocked 13.XX. Hopefully someone has got pics of all the cars.

DO you have a better video of the BZen vs Superb. Could not see anyting beyond, to the left of where the camera was positioned. Assuming the B Zen won it?

Yes the Bxen won it by atleast 1-2 secs and did a 14xx run.

Nice to see Jeethus car again. Hope it did well in the final runs.

Any idea about the Supra beating Esteem? What was it running?

We planned to attend this event but had to drop our travel plans at the last minute, banking on TBHPians to give us all the info, pics etc.

Unfortunately the Speedway2011 site does not have any results either.
