Re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

Are we to understand from the above the FE of this Camry is 17.5kmpl!!! as visible from that review 100km/5.7L? I think it is the hybrid version being discussed in this review...

Re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

The front end of this new Camry is aping the current Honda Civic! The head lamps clearly a copy of the Civic. Rest looks very Toyota (boring I mean).

Re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

US prices of Camry.

"Now, Toyota is ready to give you pricing, and it's good news if you're in the market for this mid-size mainstay. Pricing stays the same for some of the 2012 trims, while it's actually gone down for a few others. The 2012 Camry family hierarchy shakes out with the base-model L before moving up to the LE, XLE and SE trims. The Camry Hybrid is only available in LE or XLE guise.

Pricing for the 2012 Camry L starts at $21,995. If you want to move up to the LE, you only need $545 more for a total of $22,500, which is about $200 less than the 2011 LE. Another $500 brings you to the four-cylinder-equipped Camry SE, which costs $23,000 and is priced $965 lower than the 2011 model it replaces. The V6 SE will cost $26,400, which is consistent with 2011 pricing. In the market for the top-shelf XLE? Have at least $24,725 ready for the four-cylinder model, and $29,845 if you prefer the V6. The 2012 Camry XLE four-cylinder is priced a full $2,000 less than the 2011 model, while the XLE V6 remains priced the same as the 2011.

If you're leaning towards the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid, you'll be saving $1,150 over the 2011 Camry LE. The 2012 Camry Hybrid LE starts at $25,900, while the Camry Hybrid XLE starts at $27,400, an $800 deduction compared to the 2011 unit."

Cheers!

2012 Toyota Camry pricing good news for those shopping in mid-size market (with more pics.)

Great to see another new car with a flat floor at the back! Would be a good selling point here in India, if they bring it down with a good diesel and price it nicely.

Re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

Its a nice clean design, though a crease on the bonnet or the sides would have added a lot of character. The seats look downmarket from the current Camry, actually seems a bit of cost cutting has been done. Overall I like it. If only they bring it here as a CKD and price it well, it will give the Accord some competition.

Re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

Is it just me or does this car look half baked?! Like it just got up in the middle of a design session and decided to drive away. The overall exterior looks incomplete and missing something. Also the skirts etc look like a cheap aftermarket addon. Maybe I'm used to the new curvy designs, but then again I love the edgy new mustang/camaro and there are not many curves there so to speak.

The console and the dash looks great. But the door trims and the general furniture should have a more luxury feel.

To be honest, this would've been an apt second gen for the etios. But a car like the camry deserves much better.

I think Toyota has made a mistake is trying to go el americano on their usual design philosophy.

Unless of course this one is going to be mondo cheapo.

Of course these are just my opinions

Re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

To me, the rear looks a bit Cruze-like but the Cruze is much nicer.

From the side profile, the way the bumper merges into the rear of the car looks very Honda City like but the City is much nicer.

And finally, the front grille seems to have a hint of that smiley Toyota weirdness that we're all accustomed to these days. All in all, nothing much to be impressed about but it does give the feeling of a D+ segment car from the side.

Re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

To me, the car looks more Honda than Toyota. Some sharp lines upfront and at the back, the side profile is bland though.

I read a long time back that the Toyota engineers went back to their drawing boards when current Civic debuted. They were taken aback by the aggressive design language. And I guess, now we are seeing the results of that Benchmarking! Funny that, Honda has gone the other way with the new Civic and Accord.

And what's wrong Toyota. Why are they slapping so much chrome on all their vehicles? Are they getting it for free? The Camry looks much better without it.

Re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

I love the understated simple design. There are no swoopy curves, bulges and creases. A bit boring but clean lines are back. The old one was had bulging headlamps, tail lamps curvy swoops, bangled bum and what not.

They have got to start assembling this in India. At somewhere close to the Superb and Accord pricing it could just click.
