2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

Mod Note : The Team-BHP Toyota Camry Review has been uploaded at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the review thread.

The first picture of the all new Camry has been leaked.

2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!-2012camry.jpg

Another video leaked shows a video of the Camry being unveiled.

This video was uploaded on July 1st and it looks like a preview of a new Camry to a large gathering (American Toyota dealers?). The video is taken at a good distance from the stage where three new Camrys roll in (2 petrol and a hybrid variant).

Looks like it is inspired by honda design philosophy.

No matter how good the look it, unless priced sensibly it is worthless.

In India, Toyota imports Camry as CBU attracting higher duties, otherwise Camry is always been priced sensibly in International Market.

Good find TRB...

IMHO, the new Camry looks much more aggressive than the older one. Why doesn't Toyota launch this car with a big refined Oil burner?

re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

The Toyota Camry never excited me. Its presence is rarely felt on the streets of Mumbai. The grille is more of an inspiration from the Etios/Liva family. With the current gen looking Accords, Passats and the upcoming i45, I wonder if it can make its mark here.

I think they already have a big oil burner variant . When I was in Dubai , dad had a Camry Grande ( its a 3.6 lt engine ) I think that a pretty big engine for a Camry , no ?

Really? In DUBAI they offered a Camry with a 3.6 diesel ?? I find that a bit hard to believe (not that I'm doubting you, it's just highly improbable).

re: 2012 Toyota Camry. EDIT : Totally undisguised pics on Page 2!

They have a host of diesel engines in their Avensis sold in the UK.
It competes with the Mondeo class.
They could easily plonk any of the three diesel engines they have on the Avensis in the Camry and assemble it here.Competition dead including the Superb and all.
2.0-litre D-4D 1AD-FTV 85 kW (114 hp)
2.2-litre D-4D 2AD-FTV 110 kW (148 hp)
2.2-litre D-4D 2AD-FHV 132 kW (177 hp)
:Taken from wikipedia.
P.S- Though FWD and only petrol engines, strangely it's one of the first cars that i have lusted after.(in childhood that is)

I think the one in the leaked photograph looks ugly! IMO, they've messed it up with the headlamps and the A-pillar.

Of the three generations, looks wise my vote would be in the order of Gen 2(current)> Gen 1 > Gen 3

Thanks for the picture.
How I wish Toyota hire some good designers and give a new face to their legendary reliability.
At present, the cycle goes like this:
Camry -> template for Corolla facelift -> template for Camry facelift -> template for Coro…

Can pass for a Honda if re-badged. Those edgy headlamps look neat. Not so sure about the grille. Toyota needs to assemble the Camry in India if it is to be competitive.

I agree. After the 1999 style Camry, Toyota seems to be stuck in a circle with no end. During 90s, Camry designs were beautiful. Even the 2003-05 Camry had a strong road presence. Then they kept getting bigger and bigger till the car design became boat like and uncontrollable. Posting pictures of 1999, 2004, 2007 Camry and you can see why.

Actually it will look quite good when it hits the road. There is also news that the new Camry will be a Made in India product with a substantial price drop.
