Ford's Fusion Hybrid - An Industry First Police Responder.

Set to be unveiled in Los Angeles and New York is Ford's new Police Responder Hybrid Sedan, based around the Fusion.

Ford has ensured the Police Responder Hybrid Sedan is fully functional for police duty. Among its custom features are front deflector plates, heavy duty suspension components, police-purposed wheels, tires and hubcaps and even a regenerative braking system with 17-inch discs and twin-piston calipers.

Power for the vehicle comes from a 2.0-liter engine outfitted with a small electric motor fed by an advanced lithium-ion battery. It has been calibrated for law enforcement's unique duty cycle and has the capacity to run in battery-only mode for up to 60 mph (96 km).

Ford says police departments across the United States will take delivery of the car next summer.

Norfolk is a county (Scale India down to UK-size, it's sort of equivalent to a state, but with much less autonomy) not a town. Click on the link: I wonder where this would be needed on those roads!

I assume Norfolk isnt fluttered with a lot of traffic and vehicles. Makes for a perfect scenario to burst a Cayman GT4 in the county back roads.

Ukranian police get 635 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV's

The Ukrainian National Police have just taken delivery of a big fleet of Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrids consisting of 635 vehicles.

Delivered by the brand's local importer and distributor as part of an emissions trading which is looking to cut down on CO2 emissions and greenhouse warming gases, the vehicles were presented last week during a ceremony held in the capital city, Kiev.

"I would like to thank the Ukrainian government for evaluating our Outlander PHEV highly and deciding that it is the right option for the country's police force. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is not only environmental-friendly, but also contains our latest technologies, such as our advanced 4WD system 'Super All-Wheel Control', which makes it highly suitable for police use", said Osamu Masuko, Mitsubishi's President and CEO, who was present at the event.

This is the Japanese marque's largest supply under the international Green Investment Scheme, which debuted with the delivery of 507 units of the i-MiEV electric model to the Government of Estonia, some six years ago.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV remains the best-selling plug-in hybrid in Europe for four years in a row, with total sales of 80,768 units at the end of 2016. Powering it is a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine, which works together with two electric motors, one on each axle, and a 12kWh lithium-ion battery, to send a combined 203PS (200hp) to all four corners. Naught to 100km/h (62mph) takes 11 seconds, and top speed stands at 170km/h (106mph).

Texas Police reveal 'Coptimus Prime'. Corvette seized from a drug dealer.

It’s not just the police departments of Abu Dhabi and Dubai that have exotic sports cars in their inventory as the New Braunfels Police Department in Texas also has a rather impressive Chevrolet Corvette at its disposal.

Unlike some police departments which may receive high-end vehicles directly from automakers for PR purposes, the story behind this Corvette is a little more exciting; it was seized from a drug dealer.

The police department took to Facebook to clear up any confusion about the vehicle which has been in its possession since 2015. In that time, it has been transformed with a black and white police car wrap and fittingly dubbed Coptimus Prime.

The aggressive Corvette certainly stands out from any other police cars in the state and frequently makes appearances at local schools and at community events in an attempt to spark engagement and interaction between local residents and police.

The New Braunfels Police Department says it will eventually sell the Corvette at auction.

The New South Wales police force in Australia have added a Chrysler 300 SRT to their fleet. With Ford and Holden closing down on their local manufacturing, the Commodores and Falcons which were the cars of choice in the current fleet are up for replacing.

The SRT is currently used more as a show car, but time will tell if it will extend its tentacles to take a bigger chunk of the numbers.

Hope this reaches our police in other parts of the country as well. Bangalore for one really needs to upgrade police two wheeler's.

Australia To Get 80 BMW 530d Highway Patrol Cars.

While this particular version of the 5 Series is neither as quick nor as fast as the performance cars mentioned in the beginning, that doesn’t make it slow. On the contrary, its turbodiesel six-cylinder, 3.0-liter engine with 265 horsepower (195 kilowatts) and a torquetastic 620 Newton-meters (457 pound feet) enables the midsize sedan reach 62 mph (100 kph) in a not-too-shabby 5.7 seconds. It will keep on going until an electronic top speed limiter will kick in at 155 mph (250 kph), though it would be interesting to find out where the police-spec cars have that limiter
