Skoda's sibling to VW's T Cross - VISION X Concept.




The small crossover will be displayed in concept form with a hybrid powertrain next month at the Geneva Motor Show.

“Vision X” will be displayed in March at the 88th Geneva Motor Show to signal Mladá Boleslav’s intentions towards coming out with its equivalent of the SEAT Ibiza-based Arona and the yet unreleased Volkswagen Polo-based T-Cross

Billed as being an “urban crossover,” the high-riding model will feature an evolution of Skoda’s design language with a sharp body painted in FLexGreen and featuring styling influences from Czech glasswork. It seems the somewhat controversial double headlight arrangement will be implemented in more and more models, while those pop-out door handles are highly unlikely to make it to production.

Riding on large 20-inch wheels and equipped with an anthracite roof for a contrasting effect, the Vision X looks promising and has an interesting rear end with Skoda’s traditional “C” lighting theme consisting of individual clusters. However, if history has thought us anything, it’s that production models don’t look nearly as nice as the preceding concepts.

India-Bound Skoda Vision-X Based SUV Officially Teased

Skoda will soon launch the compact SUV based on the Vision-X concept, the teaser image shows its headlamps

Skoda has officially released a teaser image of the upcoming SUV. It will be the smallest SUV in the Skoda’s lineup and the name is likely to start from K, just like the other two SUVs – Kodiaq and the Karoq.

The first image reveals the silhouette of the car and also reveals the LED headlamp set-up of the coming SUV.

The ŠKODA KAMIQ SUV new feature is the horizontally split headlights.

In our new KAMIQ city SUV we’ve implemented a completely new headlamp configuration. The two-part headlamps with daytime running lights above are a first for ŠKODA. They give the KAMIQ a unique appearance and represent another interpretation of our successful SUV design language.

Another bold component on the fascia is the broad grille featuring the double ribbing common to all ŠKODA SUVs. The side profile will reveal the high bonnet and balanced proportions of the entire car, while highlighting the new model’s dynamic and sporty concept.

The rear lights will retain the C-shape – the tell-tale sign of a ŠKODA, but this will be freshly interpreted. An eye-catching feature on the fifth door will be the ŠKODA name in letters in the centre.

2014 Jeep Cherokee was one of the 1st such designs IIRC;



Tata just adopted/implemented this design philosophy in the Harrier for the Indian market.

Skoda reveals the interiors of its upcoming CUV KAMIQ,

The interior of the ŠKODA KAMIQ is characterised by the new interior concept presented for the first time in the VISION RS study. A character line surrounding the freestanding screen, which is positioned high in the driver’s field of vision, reflects the lines of the bonnet and also provides an ergonomic shelf for the hand operating the touchscreen. With the optional Virtual Cockpit, featuring one of the largest displays in the segment at 10.25 inches, ŠKODA offers another digital highlight in the new KAMIQ. The redesigned instrument panel seamlessly continues the emotional design language of the exterior. The side air vents extend into the doors, visually enhancing the spacious feel of the KAMIQ.

New surface grain, warm colours and ambient lighting
The instrument panel with new elaborate ornamentation and the front door panels feature a high-quality, soft foam surface with a new, crystalline structure based on a unique grain that will continue to characterize the ŠKODA brand’s design in the future. The ambient lighting, which is available in the colours copper, red or white, also adds to the pleasant atmosphere. The colours add a visual accent to the interior tones and an interesting contrast to the stitching on the seat covers. Suedia, a fine microfiber material, is available as an upholstery option. For additional comfort, the new ŠKODA KAMIQ offers optional heating for the windscreen, rear seats and steering wheel.

Plenty of space thanks to a long wheelbase:

Built on the modular transverse matrix (MQB), the ŠKODA KAMIQ offers the generous interior space you would expect from a ŠKODA. With a wheelbase of 2,651 millimetres, the car offers generous knee clearance of 73 millimeters in the back. The boot volume is 400 litres, increasing to 1,395 litres with the rear seat backrests folded down.

These new Skoda names are terrible, no? Kodiaq still sort of works but Kamiq and Karoq are too close to names you might give a person. A bit like the Premier Padmini - a name that never seemed to fit a car. Maybe it's just me but car names are supposed to be different human names. They can literally be anything else - alphanumeric sequences, animal names, planets, words conveying emotion, etc.

It's like getting a car called the Mahindra Raju. It just sounds weird, even though Raju itself is fine for a person!

And, in India it was the Nuvosport. They just made the headlights too big! maybe putting a couple of projectors in production cars costs more than the whole project eventually failing in the eyes of M&M management.

A mellowed version of the concept Vision X.

The Kamiq is going to be powered by two versions of the 1.0 TSI and two of the 1.5 TSI... eventually, though, at launch, you'll only have a choice between 115 and 150 HP. The diesel option will be frugal 1.6 TDI. In most cases, a 7-speed DSG will be available.

With split headlights, the Kamiq will remind some of the original Yeti, though this feature is also common trend for crossovers
At the rear of the car, attempts seem to have been made to hide the fact that the Kamiq will get a full length light bar.

Actually the KAMIQ in the spy shots are camouflaged cleverly in body color in typical ŠKODA style,

Every bit of each panel is a cladding. Simply clever. But it does give away a lot, especially about the head and tail lights.

Far from Kodiaq and Scala, I see a ditto of T-cross, no surprises there. The side profile particularly is a dead giveaway.

Looks very much like a hatchback. Struggling to see any SUVish design elements in this execution.

Will be a hard sell in Indian market, if it is heading our way.
