Skoda KAMIQ design in details - Simply Clever!

The name KAMIQ continues the already familiar nomenclature of ŠKODA SUV models. The names of the larger models, the ŠKODA KAROQ and ŠKODA KODIAQ, both also start with the letter K and end in a Q

The new ŠKODA KAMIQ is 4,241 mm long and 1,793 mm wide, and has a height of 1,531 mm. The wheelbase measures 2,651 mm. This is especially beneficial for the rear passengers who can enjoy 73 mm of knee room. The boot has a capacity of 400 l, which increases to 1,395 l when the rear seats are folded down. As an optional extra, the front passenger’s seat back can also be folded down, allowing longer items up to 2,447 mm to be transported with ease.

Power-train:

They come with brake energy recovery as well as Stop/Start technology and comply with the currently strictest Euro 6d‑TEMP emissions standard. The entry-level engine is a 1.0 TSI delivering 70 kW (95 PS). From its cylinder capacity of 1.0 l, this three-cylinder model produces maximum torque of 175 Nm and features a manual 5-speed gearbox

The 1.0 TSI with a power output of 85 kW (115 PS) comes with a 6-speed gearbox as standard, but can be fitted with a 7-speed DSG as an option, and generates torque of 200 Nm. The top-end engine is the four-cylinder 1.5 TSI with a power output of 110 kW (150 PS) and maximum torque of 250 Nm. Its Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) automatically shuts down two cylinders when the load is light, thus saving on fuel. This engine is also available with a 7-speed DSG as an alternative to the manual 6-speed gearbox. All three petrol engines are equipped with a petrol particulate filter.

The four-cylinder 1.6 TDI diesel engine delivering 85 kW (115 PS) also offers torque of 250 Nm; it is fitted with an SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection and a diesel particulate filter as standard. This efficient diesel engine is coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard; a 7-speed DSG is available as an option.

The boot has a capacity of 400 l, which increases to 1,395 l when the rear seats are folded down.

The compact side view, with large wheels measuring 16 to 18 inches and an elevated bonnet, appears robust and dynamic; the roof line and high ground clearance reinforce this impression






The optional Virtual Cockpit can be individually customised and offers the driver a choice of five different views.






A new Simply Clever feature: The integrated funnel in the lid of the windscreen washer tank makes the washer fluid refill easy!



The KAMIQ is the first car in its segment to offer the option of clever door-edge protection that deploys automatically when the doors are opened. This system prevents damage to the KAMIQ as well as nearby vehicles, particularly in tight parking spaces in the city!

I am not sure if you need "technology" to make it happen. A cleverly disguised rubber beading would suffice. The cost of the technology, the weight of the components are counteractive to the whole making cars cheaper and lighter scenario.

Just another hatchback that’s a wannabe SUV. Was so looking forward to it. Whoever compared this to a Hyundai Creta needs to get a bottle of eye drops (in my opinion)..

The KAMIQ, the brand’s third SUV, is about to take its rightful place alongside its bigger siblings, the KODIAQ and the KAROQ.

The KAMIQ combines the advantages of a sports utility vehicle – such as the higher ground clearance and raised seating – with the nimbleness of a compact hatchback. Its stomping ground is the urban jungle, which is where its virtues really come to the fore.

Inside, the KAMIQ follows in the footsteps of the SCALA, another model that was being showcased to the general public in Geneva. The KAMIQ will also offer third-generation infotainment systems enabling it to be online at all times, a Virtual Cockpit with a 10.25-inch display, softened surfaces with a finish reminiscent of a crystalline structure, and a host of Simply Clever features.

The KAMIQ offers a multitude of safety features and advanced driver-assistance systems. Passive safety is assured by up to nine airbags and other components, while active safety relies on a whole range of assists, such as Lane Assist, Front Assist, including Emergency Brake Assist, Side Assist and Rear Traffic Alert. Travelling is made all the easier by the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Park Assist and Hill-start Assist. If that weren’t enough, you can always reach for the “boot opening assist”, i.e. the electrically operated tailgate. Those who like their car to be athletic will love the sporty chassis with adjustable shock absorbers, enabling drivers to switch between Normal and Sport modes.

I thought this is the one coming to India in a slightly cheaper/modified form but looks like it's not as per AutocarIndia.
Now, I am extremely confused. I was looking forward to the compact SUVs from Skoda/VW as I planning to upgrade next year.

Anyways, this car looks great with a lot of convenience and safety features but it has not got the 'butch' looks which is critical for the sucsess of any SUV in INdia. I don't care much as long as it has a high seating position, good ground clearance and touch build and suspension to tackle the bad roads.

Skoda Kamiq ( for India) will be unveiled in India in 2020 with a launch in early 2021.

Skoda Kamiq launched in Germany, deliveries to start in July. Starts at €17,950.


- Entry level is the 95 horsepower 1-liter with a 5-speed manual

- A 115 HP version that's available with DSG. Unfortunately, the step-up in power costs €1,200.

The basic Ambition model even has the audacity to feature steel wheels, while only the top-end Style has its roof rails painted. Even at €23,000, you don't get the digital dashboard, LED headlights or push-button start.

Amidst all the hype around the Hector and the Seltos, there is absolutely no interest in this thread which is understandable considering the car will be launched in 2021 (1.5 years later)

However, given my requirements, I like this car the most among all the possible candidates. It has got the understated elegance, high quality interiors and loaded with features. The only issue is the height of this car is more like a hatchback rather than a SUV - it is significantly lower than Creta/Hector etc. I hope they provide a good enough GC and underbody protection. But, the pricing is frankly a shocker. Given the above pricing, this will easily go past 20L in India. I wonder how they will position this car. The other worry is that they will do severe cost cutting for the India-spec model resulting in poor quality. Either way, I see a very tough road for this car in India.

Exactly what I'm looking for in addition to AT. One of the reasons the S-Cross was such an easy choice for me. Lots of practicality and convenience without necessarily standing out.

Way too long a wait IMO, especially considering that sibling T-Cross has been out on foreign roads for almost a year now!

What a looker the car is with the carbon black grille and wheels! The best looking Skoda, closely followed by the previous edition of the Superb.
