Rear end is to die for..

Being a modern Ferrari, the 488 Spider’s key boasts all centre, somewhat unromantically, around maths and science. Like this one: it’s as structurally stiff as the coupe it’s spun from, giving it a full 23 per cent more torsional rigidity than the 458 Spider it supersedes. Be still your beating heart.

We’d bet our house on the car itself being heart-stoppingly entertaining, though. Driving its rear wheels is the same 661bhp, 560lb ft twin-turbocharged V8 as the 488 GTB, and while the Spider’s kerbweight is 50kg chunkier, at 1525kg, Ferrari claims it’s not enough to dent the coupe’s 3.0sec 0-62mph time.

Re: Ferrari 488 GTB - The 458 replacement with turbo

Ferrari has officially revealed the 488 Spider. Stated to be Ferrari's most powerful ever mid-rear engined V8 with a retractable hard top, the 488 Spider uses the same engine as the 488 GTB that was revealed a few months ago. The world premiere of the 488 Spider will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, 2015.

Is that a hole in the mesh? Would love to know the detail behind it.

Should be used for Towing just in case. We see it in almost all cars isn't it.

Ferrari 488 GTB - The 458 replacement with turbo

So this one-off Ferrari 488 GTB was spied testing around the Fiorana track. At a first casual glance, nothing looks that drastically different.

But the moment you compare it side-by-side to a 'stock' 488, the drastic changes made to many body panels becomes evident.

Looks like a product of the Ferrari Special Projects division for an obscenely rich and influential client, a la the SP12 EC based on the 458, just that this one looks a lot more true to the donor 488.

It can't be a 488 Speciale/Scuderia/GTO because it is way too early in the car's life-cycle for that to happen.

P.S: Yes, it does look a teeny-tiny bit like the Evora and the 4C in some ways.

That mystery car has now been revealed as the Ferrari 458 MM Speciale. Apparently a British billionaire was not very fond of turbocharging, or in this case, the new 488. So, Ferrari made a naturally aspirated one-off called the 458 MM Speciale. It uses the same chassis and running gear as the 458 Speciale, but the bodywork is completely new, custom hand crafted in aluminium with composite carbon fibre bumpers on both ends. The rear end and light clusters are based on the new 488, while the set of five-spoke alloy wheels with a twin-spoke design is exclusive to the 458 MM Speciale. The exterior is finished in 'Bianco Italia' with the Italian flag’s tricolore body stripes. Inside, upgrades to the cabin include 'Cioccolato' leather upholstery with white contrast stitching, satin white rings around the controls and an enhanced audio system. Powered by the same, naturally aspirated, V8 from the 458 Speciale, the one-off hits 0-100 km/h in just 3 seconds and on to a top speed 325 km/h. The mid-mounted, 4.5-litre engine makes 597 HP and 540 Nm of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed DCT. So far the price remains undisclosed.

How wrong I was! xD
I came here to correct my wrongs but you beat me to it. Thank you!
This one looks rather tasty, specially after seeing the high-res press pics.
Wonder how much this one-off costs? I googled it and, needless to say, wasn't disappointed.
$3 million. Only.
Now before you think Ferrari is doing a Lamborghini (read Veneno), it does take three YEARS of hardwork from the designers, engineers and owner. And apart from being true one-offs, these cars are a very very good investment because they are guaranteed to appreciate in value over time, in millions (unlike Lamborghini Veneno whose value is dropping already). Plus gazillion novelty points and bragging rights.
