It was the one thing that totally turned me off Fords of that generation - EcoSport and Fiesta in India. Had a long term rental Focus - very similar dashboard & interior design - in the USA. Based on the spy pictures, patent registrations and leaks by data suppliers so far, Argentina's premier auto publication, AutoBlog, has rendered a couple of images of the 2017 Ford EcoSport.

They claim that the final product would be very close to these renderings.

Outside, the main change will be seen in the tube. The EcoSport 2017 (and will be called) will incorporate a larger hexagonal grille, new bumpers, fog lamps and offer new wheel designs.

The 2017 Ford EcoSport will make it's world debut in November 2016 at the Sao Paulo Auto Show in Brazil, with an all-new 1.5L 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine from the "Dragon" family of compact petrol engines exclusively developed by Ford.

Replacing the 1.5L Sigma Ti-VCT which is currently under the hood of the present-gen EcoSport, the "Dragon" petrol engine family will be manufactured in India, Europe, Russia, Brazil and China simultaneously, with Ford's Indian arm set to supply 4 lakh engines globally once production starts in full steam.

The "Dragon" family also consists of a 1.2L petrol, which is expected to power the facelifted Figo hatchback and the Figo Aspire sedan by 2017.

For India, the facelifted EcoSport is expected to be launched in the first half of 2017. It remains to be seen if this facelift will get the "Dragon" heart for India.

The 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit on the other hand, could be under development in Brazil alongside the facelifted Ford EcoSport, expected to begin deliveries in early 2017. The Brazilian media was reporting in April that the 1.5-litre direct injection engine will produce 130 hp, and be offered in the Ford Ka (Ford Figo) and Ford Fiesta.

Well arvind, You can shed us more insights on the new Ecosport! Hope you get my point! The front does look good provided if they maintain the same geometry with little re-arrangements.

The front will bear similarity to Ford's Edge.

Most current, the Dragon will have direct injection, variable intake and exhaust phase and about 130 horses, power similar to that of the current Sigma 1.6, but probably with lower consumption and better torque distribution. The current 2.0 engine of 147 horses should be kept in more expensive versions.

Inside, in addition to the improved finish, the new Eco should receive a more modern dashboard with central configurable screen between the speedometer and the tachometer. Multimedia Center also will be new, with a really all-in-one screen in place of

For EU the facelifted Ford EcoSport will go into production at its plant in Craiova, Romania. Ford India will slow down production and will supply to the domestic market and some nearby markets only.

The 2017 Ford EcoSport will borrow the front fascia design of the Edge mid-size crossover SUV. The headlights are different as well, as is the front bumper. Look even closer and the hood ends right above the grill. The rear end hides new graphics for the taillights and a re-sculptured bumper.

Ford Ecosport is currently in the 10th position in Europe in terms of sales.

To keep it fresh and competitive. Last time the EcoSport was refreshed, it gained a better interior equipment for the European market and lost its spare wheel on the boot lid. Now, the model is set to receive some more visual improvements, such as revised front fascia and new headlights, while a set of bigger alloys is also in the cards. The spare wheel on the tailgate will remain a free option.

The larger exhaust pipe in the rear bumper on the photographed EcoSport prototype here hints the small SUV could also be getting a new engine. Currently, European customers can choose from two petrol and one diesel engines with power ranging from 95 horsepower (70 kilowatts) to 140 hp (103 kW). Chances are there will be a larger 1.6-liter diesel unit that will sit above the current 1.5 TDCi

Ecosport for Europe spied. Does lose the rear mounted spare wheel.

The one on sale today was engineered primarily to cater the Indian market, so its quality is not quite on par with other small SUVs sold in Europe.

The Blue Oval is addressing these issues with a reworked version of the Euro-spec EcoSport which will actually be built on the old continent, unlike the current model imported from the Chennai factory in India. The plant in Craiova -Romania will start assembly of the updated model in the fall of 2017, so look for an official reveal probably in the first half of the year

As far as the engines are concerned, these will likely be carried over from the current model, so expect to find a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter, the turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost, and the 1.5-liter TDCi turbodiesel. In some markets, the current EcoSport can be had with an all-wheel-drive layout, but it’s too soon to say whether the revised European version will get it as well or Ford will decide to stick to a FWD-only setup.

If I dont' have all the time in the world to wait for a new car, is it worth waiting for this upgraded model to launch in India? First half of 2017 is quite vague and just a speculation, seems like.
