In March, the two companies announced the first details of a new wide-ranging collaboration, which will involve Toyota producing Suzuki-badged hybrid vehicles based on the RAV4 and Corolla estate for the European market. The deal will include Suzuki vehicles being built at Toyota's Derbyshire plant |
with the new 18.1kWh new lithium-ion battery, the system maximum output has reached 225kW (306PS), enabling sporty and powerful driving. |
EV mileage when fully charged is 95km (WLTC mode), and the hybrid fuel economy is 22.2km/L (WLTC mode). By securing 55L of gasoline tank capacity, it boasts a maximum cruising range of more than 1300km. |
the temperature of the lithium-ion battery is thoroughly controlled by utilizing the refrigerant of the air conditioner. A heat pump system is used for the air conditioner, and the heat pump uses the heat of the outside air to warm the engine cooling water and heat the inside of the vehicle. A system is adopted that reduces power consumption when using an air conditioner and reduces the reduction in EV mileage. |
Toyota's SUV is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system for the first time, and the vehicle concept is the current RAV4's "Robust Accurate (sophisticated and precise)". "Vehicle with 4 Wheel Drive" has added "E"-Booster" which means to accelerate the charm of RAV4 with electric power. The “E” includes “Enjoy” that accelerates the fun of the RAV4, “Electric” that accelerates the comfort of the RAV4, and “Environment” that accelerates the environmental performance of the RAV4. It has three meanings. |
Toyota Industries Corp., which currently assembles the RAV4 model, started production for Suzuki at its plant in Aichi Prefecture earlier this month |
The mini-vehicle manufacturer plans to start selling RAV4s carrying the Suzuki badge in the second half of this year after unveiling the plan in March last year. |
First model from partnership between Japanese firms will be all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid SUV |
the first Suzuki model in Europe, Across will offer an automatic eCall call system. |
the use of a plug-in hybrid device with a large battery and on-board charger should in no way limit the use of the Across as a large family car. The mentioned battery of the hybrid system should offer a capacity of 18.1 kWh (50.9 Ah), which should be enough to cover up to 75 kilometers on a single charge. According to the WLTP methodology, CO 2 emissions are only around 22 g / km, which makes the Across the cleanest Suzuki car on the European market. |
The battery is powered by a 134 kW electric motor with a maximum torque of up to 270 Nm, which is followed by an extremely efficient 2.5-liter petrol engine with 136 kW and 227 Nm of torque. However, both drive units are driven only by the front wheels, while the rear is driven by an electric motor with an output of 40 kW and 121 Nm of torque. The hybrid powertrain can operate in a total of four driving modes. In addition to pure electric (EV), there are also hybrid (HV) and Auto EV / HV, which automatically switches the internal combustion engine when higher power is required. The last mode then works with a constantly running internal combustion engine, which recharges the battery. This is useful, for example, in situations where it cannot be recharged from an external source. |
sophisticated LED headlamps with a bi-beam projector (combining low and high beams) and an LED DRL, and premium quality 19-inch alloy wheels with black gloss coating and a distinctive polished face |
The Plug-in Hybrid system in the ACROSS provides unparalleled fuel economy and smooth acceleration, with CO₂ emissions of just 22g/km*2. |
AWD Integrated Management (AIM) Central to the E-Four system is the highly sophisticated AWD Integrated Management (AIM), which controls not only drive force distribution, but also engine throttle control, transmission shift scheduling, Electric Power Steering (EPS) assistance and braking, according to the driving conditions. Trail Mode Trail Mode is an automatic limited-slip differential control feature that ensures the best possible grip and control on slippery surfaces. The system works by applying the brakes to wheels that begin to lose grip and redirects torque to wheels that maintain grip. The feature also adjusts the throttle and transmission shift pattern to keep the vehicle moving. Advanced safety and technology features Fully equipped with the latest smart safety features, the ACROSS offers confidence and peace of mind for both driver and passengers on every journey. Some of the key safety features include driving assist functions such as Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), which use a millimeter-wave radar and monocular camera. |
Best electric range, good space, lots of safety and comfort equipment, even at the lowest level, low consumption. |

The Suzuki has spare wheels as standard. It steals 20 liters of space in the trunk, but in return you get a wheel that can be used if you puncture, not just a repair kit. This is probably something some customers appreciate. |
A final trump card for Suzuki is the delivery situation. You can get this car almost during the day, while it takes a while before Toyota starts handing out its model, |
Yesterday drove a brand new Toyota RAV4 rechargeable hybrid, in Drammen. Today in a Suzuki Across, here in Oslo. And the two are the same car |
