Suzuki ACross could be a re-badged Toyota RAV4 SUV

According to a media report, Suzuki is working on a Toyota RAV4-based SUV for the European market. Likely to be called the ACross, the SUV could be unveiled later this year.

The Suzuki ACross is said to be a product of the Toyota-Suzuki partnership, in which both brands have agreed to share products and technologies. Therefore, the ACross is expected to be a re-badged version of the RAV4.

The ACross will be based on the TNGA-K platform. Suzuki could make minor cosmetic changes to the exterior to differentiate it from the RAV4. Under the bonnet, the ACross is expected to use the same 2.5-litre petrol hybrid powertrain as the RAV4. It produces 215 BHP and 221 Nm of torque. The all-wheel drive version makes 217 BHP. The car is expected to get an automatic transmission.

The Suzuki ACross is expected to be positioned above the Vitara in the company's global line-up.
