I wish there was demand for such mature hatchbacks here.

Only if they could produce this Fabia here <4meters and price this along the i20, this could be a hit.

1.0 TSI is leagues ahead of anything & everything that the segment offers. The solid built & the amazing chassis would be an eye candy for the purists.

That cloth type finish with stitching looks really premium in a car of this segment. Very clean design overall and seems fairly spacious. They can easily price it at a 10-15% premium over the Polo and it should do reasonably well. Though looking at the market and VW's priorities at the moment, there is virtually zero chance of it making to our shores for the next couple of years at least.

As per Autocar India, the length is 3.6-3.8 metres and not more than 4 metres. I think the main reason it won't make it to India is that Skoda it wants to focus on crossovers/SUVs and that's their new strategy.

That being said, hot hatches don't sell in our country anyway and that's a shame.

Interestingly, the Fabia gets a digital instrument cluster but the Kushaq doesn't. LOL.

CBU route for the new Fabia uncompetitive??? In a way YES; and, in a way, NO!

NO because there's really no competition for a Eurospec premium hatchback like this in India. A nice hatchback like the Fabia will be a driver's car and great for families too! 380L of boot space is quite good for long trips. The rear legroom also looks great which will not be possible if it's built with < 4m length. Consider this fact - the CB units of VW T-Roc (priced above 21 lakhs) were sold out quickly. This one can be priced around 15 lakhs I guess. The 81 kW 1.0 l TSI motor traversing 100 km for just 5 litres of fuel sounds great. If VW-Skoda, expanding* its network under its India 2.0 plan, is able to keep the servicing/maintenance costs in check, it will be a lot nicer.

YES because we, the cost-conscious citizens of India, picking quantity over quality cannot be ruled out. In that case, it will face direct competition from its own sibling, the upcoming Kushaq for the latter's SUV appeal.

Anyway, CBU route would mean lesser number of units for that special category of enthusiasts!! A single shipment of the first batch of CBUs is definitely worth a try. As compared to a shrunk SUV/sedan (compact SUV/sedan as they call it), a premium hatchback such as this would be super cool!

That is wrong information buddy. Here is the official infographic from the Skoda press statement -

That said - reducing length would not be their major concern anyways! If anything, it would only be an excuse to hide their preference for other priority products.

The classier of the two is the Skoda Fabia, best in class in space management and stunning looks.

However both are ruled out for India as of now.

Not a big fan of the new fascia of the Skoda cars. I thought it was a one off with the Octavia. Just gives the car a much more angry stance, whereas the earlier iterations looked elegant.

Reminds me of Chick Hicks form the Cars movie.
