Mercedes F700 - next S Class

Mercedes-Benz' display at this week's Frankfurt auto show will include the F700, a dazzling and dizzying collection of technology bundled into a concept-car body that could be an early preview of the next S-Class sedan.

But the emphasis is distinctly on low consumption and low environmental impact, starting with its experimental engine that combines diesel compression and turbocharging in a gas engine that produces V-6 power-though it's only a four-cylinder.

more here

S class with 4 cylinders - sacrilege!!

There's a thread about the Dies-Otto engine that Merc has made which is in the F700. Imagine putting that engine in a much smaller hatchback Now thats sacrilege and for your reference here's the thread

No way that would be a S-class sedan in a million years! Maybe a R-class or something.

Lasers !! this is what we need for every car in India !!

Quote:
The body motions are controlled by a new system dubbed PRE-SCAN. Taking the place of Mercedes' current Active Body Control system, the new technology is laser-based. Sensors embedded in the concept's front end scan the surface of the road ahead and transmit information to the car's computers, which set the hydraulic suspension for the impending jostle. Those laser sensors are flanked by LED headlamps as well.

Dude...cant exactly say which model is going to be replaced with the F700...All F-series concept model M-B so far released are study/research vehicles...and car maker hint about thier future gizmos through these cars...same as is the F700..but Merc specifically says that its a luxury-sedan concept, hence we can expect somany toys from this on the next-gen S or even in any other models...

Wat ever its a brilliant job...on the point of a designer, its a realestic future design & marvelous work...I love it...

Dude the R-Class is a Wagon or CUV. In what angle does this look like a CUV to you?

The picture in the first linky made it look like a low van!!

Now it looks like the effect of polio on the product out of a diablo-maybach marriage.

Wow the interior are to die for...makes me remember the times when the MAYBACH fotographs (prototypes ones) were circulated through out the internet. Guess this ones going to be a sure production model, but I really hope they redesign the complete fron end especially those headlamps and unproportionate sized front grill.

it looks more a blend of the CLS and the current S class.
the front of the S class and the rest a raised CLS. look at the rear window, hood and boot design.
