Has anyone seen the VW Phaeton

dude are you sure about the number and yhe colour?
because i think that phaeton is dark blue in colour ..i saw it in broad day light chased by a cayenne and an SLK on the DND ...
there are 3 phaetons in delhi ...i have seen the blue and the off white/light beige (nightime)

To answer the question, No I haven't seen a Phaeton till today! And what makes it worse is that I have seen about 3 ferrari's here in Toronto but not a single Phaeton. That car flopped and rightly so. If I had that kind of money, I would go for a Mercedes or BMW. If I wanted to stay with the VW family of cars, I would buy the Audi A8. No wonder, VW are pulling out the Phaeton from the US market to concentrate on their bread and butter models. Smart move!

I have seen about ten Phaetons in my lifetime, my first was in Frankfurt on Jan 1, 2004.

I also saw the navy blue one in Claridges Hotel, New Delhi. The rest were all in London.

I saw the Phaeton at the VW dealership about a month back when I went to get an oil change for my Jetta. I really liked the car. The one they had was the blue one with tan interiors. I was walking around the Phaeton and the new Jetta until they changed the oil on my car. By the way, I hate the new Jetta styling-wise...it looks like a Corolla.

I also remembered right now that I have spotted another Phaeton in Delhi, at the Ashoka. It's a black one belonging to the current owner of TOI.

I have also seen the two Pheatons that aniguchisan mentions, infact I have seen the blue one a number of times in South Delhi and the owner must be some big shot as he travels with a full security entourage of about 10-15 people in 2 open gypsies.

I also managed to see a Black/Silver Touareg yesterday outside Radisson, Noida with the spare tyre mounted on the tailgate but couldn't take a picture as I was running late for a meeting.

@vanam: Could be a demo car. They don't have the stickering on the pillars.

Saw one in Mumbai the other day. Must have been one of the V6 petrols that they were selling at a huge discount - Rs. 25L IIRC.
If it had the diesel power plant, we would have thought of picking one up for sure. The rear seat sure looked spacious, and the design is very understated - something we like!

The air conditioning vents on the Phaeton are concealed by the dashboard. You see the dashboard around the analog clock? The A/c vents are there. The vents open and close as required based on the climatronic temperature set. If you are in manual mode, it works like the Jaguar. A/c vents close when you switch the car off and conceal them. It's very classy. Have seen a display model.

Seems like VW dealers got a Phaeton each for a steal. The owner of VW Pune West owns a Phaeton too. Surprising because he never spent money on luxury cars.
