Re: Brilliance A3 SAV...er...Chinese BMW X1 copycat ?

I am not surprised. If they can come up with a replica of Rolls Royce Phantom, why not a X1 copy. If I remember right, that number was from Geely.

If Brilliance is a BMW Partner, wouldnt BMW be ready to break off ties ? Or is it that BMW helped them develop this on a X1 platform through some sort of royalty agreement? (Highly unlikely though)
This is how the Chinese market works, the IP laws there are very lax and always pro Chinese companies. Unfortunately, the market is so big and growing that foreign companies have to digest such shams to continue to have access to the market.

Normally, copy's like these are positioned at the lower end of the market/segment. So, people buying the brand will always buy it.
You need to have a equal share local partner to sell cars in China and most of the top selling foreign cars have a copy and normally it's their Partner selling it through their local brand

If I am not wrong, Bajaj had similar issues with Pulsar there, some Chinese company selling copy of Pulsar.

Though Chinese are good at copying design/technology, I don't understand how Brilliance can come up with a replica of its partners product!! May be its approved by BMW? Then also it doesn't make any sense.

It's right below the Parking gear, in red. Covered by the watermark though, look carefully, you'll notice it.

LandWind X7 - A Chinese Copy of the Range Rover Evoque

Hey Folks,

Now this is really crazy...!!!

China's penchant for manufacturing fake products and copying brands isn't exactly a secret, which has brought upon them not only disgrace but also the tag of 'global copycats'. While fake phones, watches and other electronic devices were regular affairs till now, they have now turned to copying cars as well.

PS: Can we have a single thread on this topic? I remember seeing a dedicated thread, not sure if it is on T-BHP or elsewhere.

Now it is time for Renault's Twizy to be cloned in China.

So they have hit again but with a loud bang this time. Offending not just one or two, but three manufacturers - VW, Nissan and to an extent, Volvo.

VIDOEV is a Chinese electric vehicles that has come up with this unfinished car. Let's wait and watch for more updates from "others"

They seem to be in enjoying this. Here's another one - Longer Yuelang X1. The quality seems to be really poor on this one. Wonder what Land rover have to say on this as this is the second time they have been hit

The shape reminds me of Reva and not Range Rover. Its funny how they could only fit "RANGE" in front given the width of the car.

Cars include Land wind, Eagle sports car which reminds us of the Ferrari and Porsche and then a Lincoln Continental.
