The Honda Element on top is a very nice vehicle - and very very practical - Sit inside and you will know (rear door opens outwards, lots of space, you can easily spend a night in it) It is aimed at people who do trekking etc etc., I would buy a Honda Element if sold in India - light, rugged, reliable, practicle, managable in traffic etc.
Xylo, Dzire and Bolero are also very practical and VFM vehicles - that is not the point of this thread. Point is they still get bashed for their looks.

The Pontiac Aztek is one hell of a confused car! I just couldn't stop laughing when I saw the first one on the road. I thought it was another one of them unique "weird and wacky" mod jobs.

Regarding the Honda Element and the like, there is a niche market for such vehicles, especially in North America, and it IS successful. One could also argue that cars like the Scion xB (from Toyota), the Nissan Cube and the Kia Soul are ugly, but these car makers have done a significant amount of market research prior to launch. And the result? The Scion xB is a runaway success in US and Toyota is launching it in Canada in the fall of this year.

Out of all these Cars I was very close to buying
1. Jeep Patriot -its cheap too
2. Scion XB

If you are a Jeep fan no words needed to describe where it gets the makeup from. Scion XB is a car ready to be dressed. Its a heaven for people who want to have heavy cosmetic changes rather than to the engine. I once owned a TC and 99% of the mods that i had were from Toyota themselves. I am speaking of serious engine mods as well as cosmetic like 'Neon's' and No I don't mean the mods done by dealerships here. These parts are delivered by OEM vendors of Toyota.

Honda Element - has a market segment of its own. I once went to a 4th july BBQ with a bunch of friends. We had a Ford Edge, Nissan Murano, Honda Element. Out of all these suv's surprisingly Element turned out to be the best one~! i hated the element until that day.

Some of the current SUV/MUV's may be 'ugly' but atleast they're 'contemporary ugly' unlike TATA and Mahindra's cars which are circa 1980's 'ugly'. Mahindra & Mahindra takes the prize for 'tacky and ugly'.

Mazda Tribute looks a lot better in the flesh than in the posted pics. I wouldn't call it an ugly UV

@Parm :- i love the fjs!!!! i wish they were sold in india. when we were buying this LR for my younger brother we initially started off with an FJ then moved to h3 and finally LR. I would still buy an FJ any day its a legend. I think it was used in Vietnam war also.

C'mon, give the chinese some credit. The SsangYong series contains possibly the only originally designed by Chinese range of cars and look how they turned up .... Crap as usual
