ID:771; 1961-1964 Chevrolet Corvair Rampside truck

ID:771 is a 1961-1964 Chevrolet Corvair Rampside truck.

Production figures: 10,787 were made in 1961; 4,102 in 1962; 2,046 in 1963 and 851 in 1964.

The Corvair Rampside had a rear-mounted aircooled flat six 140-cid engine, with two carburetors One carburetor for each bank of 3 cylinders.
The engine as mounted in the truck, developed 98 to 150 bhp depending on model year, tuning and carburetion. This complicated engine had six separate cylinder barrels and a divided crankcase and a lightweight aluminum block.

The Rampside trucks had a ramp on the right side, which folded down from a piano hinge at the bottom of the bed. The ramp allowed the user to roll or slide cargo into the bed without lifting.
It had a rubber top edge to protect the paint from scratches when the ramp was folded down.

The Bell Telephone company bought a number of these as they could roll telephone cable reels in and out of the bed.

The Corvair Rampside and Loadside trucks were based on the Corvair car. Much written about, and received with a mixed reception in its day, the Corvair car is today, considered rare and collectible. It certainly has its unique place of significance in automotive history.

It was largely the brainchild of Chevrolet chief engineer Edward N. Cole, who would one day become president of GM.

In its 1960 to 1969, decade long run, the Corvair came as four-door sedans, two-door coupes, convertibles, and station wagons. The four-door sedans were discontinued after 1967.

Corvair pickup trucks were of two varieties -- the slightly more conventional Loadside and the Rampside. Introduced with the cars in 1961, Loadside trucks were discontinued after 1962, but Rampsides were made until 1964.

ID:772 looks to be based on a Renault 9, not unlike the small 2002 Dacia SupeRNova hatchback below. But at the present time, this is as close as I can get. Maybe it's an older Dacia Nova/SupeRNova ?

Ram Sir, the front grill is different, the side indicators are placed differently, no rear spoiler, also the car has single wind shield wiper. But the overall shape resembles with the one you've mentioned above.

ID:772 is not a Suzuki nor a Zastava Florida Sedan of Serbia nor a Dacia Nova/SupeRNova.
