A very exciting Mediterranean track.

I am really excited about this Street Circuit, Hope we get to see a race different from those MONOTONOUS all this while.

Anyone remembers any SAFETY CAR INCIDENTS this season They have become very very scarce.. We might see something as this Circuit is considered as the most UNSAFE track for F1.

Re: F1 2011 -Grand Prix De Monaco

Good start Pavan sir!

Even I am badly hoping to see a new line up (read RED) at the front! We haven't seen rain on the circuit either (for the safety car).

Pat Dry is supposed to be the master strategist! where has his mastery all gone?

Re: F1 2011 -Grand Prix De Monaco

Meh, the RBRs will end up on top during qualifying and as usual they/or atleast of of them win the race again. Monaco isn't an overtaking track either hence no excitement. Anyway I hope we do see something different like you said !

If there's anyone it's probably Webber that's the most excited about this race! 2010 repeat, anyone!?

Re: F1 2011 -Grand Prix De Monaco

Posting after a long time I feel the Ferrari's or at least Alonso will come alive in Monaco. The hard tire which seems to be the culprit for Ferrari's poor performance is not allocated for Monaco and they are pretty soft on the tires which should give hope for their drivers.

RB are a sure shot for the win but I would place Ferrari above Macca for this race as they seem to traditionally do well here.

Vamos Alonso!

^^+1 - the hard tires were coming down hard on the drivers (please note that I am not saying they were hard for the Scuderians only) Not taking the credit away from RB and Mc's but I bleed RED!!

Last year nine cars did not finish for one reason or the other.
Let us hope for similar excitement this time as well.

Re: F1 2011 -Grand Prix De Monaco

I absolutely love the Monaco track. Most people find it boring, but the camera shots are to die for. Especially the close-ups of the cars snaking their way through the lap, or bouncing off right after the Nouvelle.

Sorry Ferrari fans, but I doubt they are going to make it to the front row. The performance advantage of the Bulls is still much too significant.

They carry fantastic downforce and they will run away in this circuit. Mclaren has better straight line speed which may not be a great talking point in this circuit.

Mercedes struggle mostly in the slow corners. Now i wonder if that will impact their 5-8 finish this time around.

Renault will be a team to watch out for.

Re: F1 2011 -Grand Prix De Monaco

^^ Not just downforce would help on Monaco or any street circuit, but also the mechanical grip of the car. Downforce is proportional to the speed of the car and it doesnt help much through half of the Monaco lap.

Re: F1 2011 -Grand Prix De Monaco

Downforce just creates more grip. Or that was my understanding. please correct and i will stand corrected for good. Mechanically most of these cars are similar. How they aerodynamically differ is what we will see this weekend. Its my humble opinion

Re: F1 2011 -Grand Prix De Monaco

Downforce is useful in tracks with fast flowing corners. In Slow corners like in Monaco, mechanical grip is more important than down force that is generated by the Aero.

Maybe we havent seen rain because Pat Dry is a master strategist

Sorry Shubz, i couldn't resist that! but you're right, we are yet to see him at his best. Maybe he doesnt have a free run of the team yet

Re: F1 2011 -Grand Prix De Monaco

Downforce means more grip, yes! But Downforce is achieved by aero or I should say how the car is designed to channel the air for a better flow at higher speeds.

The mechanical grip is something that comes from the suspension, tires, CoG or weight distribution and the chassis as a whole and mechanically none of the cars are similar!

that was good! but how can a team of the stature of Ferrari take chances by not letting Pat dry himself well in the paddock?
