Re: 2012 F1 - Italian Grand Prix - MONZA

Very disappointing Quali today. Pole was there for the taking.
But this should make for a cracker of a race from Fernando! Only worry for overtaking is that the Ferrari is slightly down on top speed compared to the others in front.
Hope he gets through Rettifilo cleanly though.

Re: 2012 F1 - Italian Grand Prix - MONZA

McLaren and Ferrari look strong. Should be interesting to watch Button and Hamilton tussle it out. Too bad Alonso had that mechanical problem, otherwise we would have had a good fight at the front. But if he can get off to a decent start, it can still be a good race for him.

The Renault engine power deficit was a major deterent in Spa and now in Monza. Vettel will look to finish ahead of Alonso to reduce the championship lead. Bring on Monza!

Bad luck for Force India, they are strong in this circuit but unfortunately gear box problem has hampered their grid position. Massa has finally shown some fire.

Wasnt the slipstream provided by Alonso to Maasa during Q3 unsportsman like? Not sure if it was intentional or not, but that slipstream was the only reason Maasa qualified so high.

Didn't he put in another qualifying lap at the end of q3?

Pure team-work, don't see anything wrong with it as long as the drivers are okay doing it. It's a little on the limit stuff but won't call it non sportsmanship.

Personally, even though I don't really like Ferrari, I think the move was a master stroke. Okay, Alonso got some unforeseeable issues but it was just brilliant strategy to make your awesome driver lift up the poorer one.

Fantastic driving by Fernando, on the edge really! I am still hopeful of a podium for him. Mercedes disappoints again without DRS everywhere in the race, sorry schumi..

Well, that was to be expected on the red car's home track.......
Really, a drive through for THAT?

Edit:and the one-two gone. Hmm, but anyone else loving perez's drive?

Great pass by Perez around the car he'll have next year.

And ouch, Vettel is out.

Ferrari team order? Alonso was over 8s ahead if Massa at the start of last lap.

Re: 2012 F1 - Italian Grand Prix - MONZA

What a race!!!
One of the best of the season with a lot of great overtaking moves up and down the field.

Drive of the season by Perez from 12th to 2nd. Awesome driving by Perez.
Bad luck has struck Red Bulls quite hard.

Alonso extends his lead in the championship heading into the critical Asian Leg of the Season.

Can't wait another two weeks for the Singapore GP.

Re: 2012 F1 - Italian Grand Prix - MONZA

What a race. McLaren is a rocket and when its Lewis's day he is unstoppable. 20th victory. What a drive by Checko. Ferrari International Assistance for red cars rescue again in SV vs FA battle. duh! Lewis said during pitwalk that you need to respect Monza and he gets his 1st F1 win there

Great drive by Perez. I think Sauber kept him out for just a little too long in the first stint. He ran out of laps towards the end.

That's simply the best podium in F1.

Re: 2012 F1 - Italian Grand Prix - MONZA

Perez was phenomenal, almost like under some trance. Awesome drive!
Guess we know for sure who's replacing Massa for 2013!! No way are Ferrari gonna let him be at Sauber now.

Ferrari once again play the team and Jean Todt card. First for the Vettel drive through, plain unfair. And then manage tyres Massa...LMAO, they should be penalised or something.

Kimi did a good drive o manage 5th in a below par car.

Great drive by Perez, Montezemolo will have to eat his words many times before the season ends. Alonso, great drive as ever.

The great Slater said that Alonso has 189 points, he has 179. During a replay of Alonso and Vettel pitstop, he said that it was Webber.
