Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

From leading all the 3 practice sessions to unable to set times when needed - what a shame. Only hope for Leclerc is to see how Lewis won the race last year from 14th position.

The midfield is tightly packed with a brilliant Kimi almost beating Gasly and just 0.033s separating the Renault teammates who qualified 8th and 13th respectively with Ricciardo losing out to Nico. Except Toro Rosso and Williams, all the other teams have representation in Top 10 , however may change if Leclerc requires any component changes leading to penalty. Fingers crossed for a very good race tomorrow.

Just when you thought Ferrari could not dissapoint you more, Ferrari has a find a way to disappoint you further.

After topping all 3 practice sessions, I was wondering what would go wrong in qualifying for Ferrari.

Leclerc in Q1 almost as fast as Max in Q3. Ferrari lost a golden opportunity to be on pole. Ferrari has to hope for rain or safety car for either of its drivers to challenge for podium but this is a track where crazy things have happened.

Honda and Max has been showing stronger race pace last couple of races, so Mercedes is not guaranteed a win here. Especially with Max starting on Softs as against Hamilton on Mediums. Sadly again we have to rely on Max to make a race weekend exciting.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

It is raining at Hockenheim!

After Ferrari's awesome 1-2(x10) yesterday, rain was the only hope we Ferrari fans had for an exciting race.

Multiple users on Reddit saying it is raining over the track. Hope it stays that way and gives us all a German GP to remember. (Not, not the kind of memories Ferrari folk are carrying from last year's German GP)

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

Ferrari were the fastest in all practice sessions, but then had to sit out.My own take is that Vettel lost his turbo. In Q2 Ferrari diagnosed the problem and found the same in the other car. So decided to sit it out. Unlike Silverstone, Hockenheimring does not allow as many overtaking opportunities. So let is hope both the Ferrari's are back and then some exciting overtaking.

First wet race of 2019 and formation lap behind safety car. Hope we will have a entertaining race without any major incidents. Fingers crossed.

Leclarc's race is over and as I was typing, Hamilton has lost front wing. Race on!

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

What a race this is turning out to be . Last year, it was Vettel and this year it is Leclerc. And Hamilton just about survived .

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

That's a big embarrassment for Merc.
Their home race, 125th year of racing and from a string of wins this season and no podium, instead a Toro Rosso and a Racing Point, hopefully.
What a race. Only wished Leclerc hadn't crashed out.
That drag strip seems to be the highlight of the race.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

What a great roller coaster of a race!!!
Brilliant one again.

Redbull and Max were on top of things and boy, were they rewarded for their strategy and pace.
Another great recovery drive by Vettel to finish 2nd and Kyvat with the 3rd.

A rare no point finish for Mercedes after a long time.

WHAT A RACE!
My brain too slow to process this manic race.
Not a Mercedes hater but have to admit slightly satisfying to see the infamous Toto desk bang bang!! It was time their luck ran out.

I can't imagine how Vettel kept all the PTSD at bay seeing everyone sliding off. But it seems he was the only driver on grid not to make a mistake. Well deserving podium. Proving to all detractors that he indeed is a champion!!

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

WHAT A RACE!

As a Ferrari fan, Leclerc is a massive case of "what if". Especially since Lewis crashed just a few seconds later ahead of him. But Hockenheim 2019 was one of the best races I've watched in so many years.

What a drive from Vettel, Kvyat and Verstappen! Vettel proving that he still has it in him to be really, really fast while not pirouetting or crashing into the barriers. And Gasly looks increasingly likely to lose his place to Albon. In complete contrast to Mercedes' outing today. But as a fan of the red team, I'm not complaining! :P

This race is a testimony to what F1 should be. No worries about tyres going off, just push and look to overtake the car in front of you.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

I'm joining others in saying this - WHAT A RACE!! Hockenheim easily beats Austria for crazy race.

You simply cannot script this thing! After a long time, rains pounding Bangalore and rains made things really crazy at Hockenheim! Seeing a Toro Rosso on the podium more than a decade after their last podium which was due to Vettel! Honda vindicating themselves after those horrid years with McLaren.

Not to be someone who revels in someone else's bad luck but Hamilton finishing last was extremely pleasing to see.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

Wow! This race was an edge-of-the-seat affair from the start to finish! Amazing, and hopefully the rest of the season now slightly opens up. Even going to the loo in the middle of the race - and not seeing half a lap - would have meant losing out on some action!!

A few chinks in the Mercedes armour are now visible. This should give a massive fillip to the rest of the teams to try harder and maybe beat Mercedes in more races in the season.

Having said that, next week in Hungary might just turn out to be a parade. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

The best race in the hybrid era. The last 3 races were truly amazing with the next generation of the drivers showing what they are capable of. The next race in Hungary will be a yawnfest unless the weather obliges.
