Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

Excellent race, a nail-biting one!

Two big recovery drives, Vettel moving to P2 from P20 and then Lance stroll, at one point he was +1 Lap and later moved to P1 before losing 3 positions at the end. Thanks to his team’s strategy, they have taken home some good points.

Verstappen and Vettel moved ahead of Stroll in no time but Bottas struggled and eventually lost his way. He lost a very good chance to finish ahead of Hamilton and get closer to him in points.

Hulkenberg is another unlucky chap, whenever he is in good position, either he crashes or ends up with a mechanical issue.

A good race for Kvyat and Alban too.

Hope we get to see many more such exiting races.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

The best race of 2019. What a RACE. Just loved every minute and this is how F1 should be. The rains got the teams to revisit the tyre strategies. I'm saying get refueling back and let the teams play on strategy as well like before.

Glad to see a change in the podium, really glad not to see Lewis up there and really really glad to see Seb get the lone scarlet to the podium. Actually was hoping for Bottas to get through to the podium and get closer to Lewis.

Totally worth it. Wow.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

A very disappointing but so exciting a race. The rains really played havoc today all across the board, didn't they. I was more disappointed by bottas' loss than Lewis'.
But hey, normal service to resume soon enough.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

Best race of 2019 by a mile. Life comes a full circle for both Vettel and Hamilton. One finishing 2nd starting last on the grid, opposite of what happened last year. And the other goes pointless from 1st, after winning from 14th last year.

F1 need these kind of races every now and then and happy to witness a fantastic wet race after a long time.

WHAT A RACE!!! WHAAAATTT A RACE!!!
Had me at the edge of the seat all through out. After ages i have seen such a race.
What a strategy by Racing point and Torro Rosso.

What a brilliant drive by Vettel and all who were saying that there is no more drive left in him and eat their words. What a way to prove the critics wrong. On a day when 3 out of the 5 top drivers made mistakes, he made none.

Finally same mistake by two Merc drivers on the same corner was icing on the cake. As true Ferrari fan, All i can say is "Karma is B***h". They had a laugh yesterday but it all came undone today. Toto's first thumping on the desk was the highlight of the race.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

Wow ! First of all I'm glad that I didn't miss the race. So much to say about the race.

If its the last race at Hockenheim for sometime, there couldn't have been a better race weekend. Races like this, proves why Formula 1 needs more races on such classic tracks. Slight mistake, and your race is done. What a shame, there won't be a German Grand Prix next year, even though we have German drivers and manufacturer.

Heartbreak for Hulkenberg who again missed out on podium, driving beautifully till he crashed. Leclerc had a good race, some really good strategies, till he crashed. Ricciardo had a failure, Norris had a crash, and Bottas placed the car wrong to crash out.
Hamilton had almost a perfect race, until Mercedes put medium on his car, and rest is history.
Raikonnen, Hamilton and Sainz managed to manuover their cars, without ending the race. Whereas Laclerc and Hulkenberg had their races ended.

Quoting Ricciardo (2018 Monte Carlo edition) here, " redemption" ! Its life coming to full circle for Mercedes and Ferrari, well sort of. Last year Vettel beached in front of his home crowd. This year , Mercedes goes home with 0 points at a track celebrating 125 years of Mercedes in motorsport. Again quoting here a Mercedes personal (2018 Hockenheim ring edition) " Miracles do happen ".

Honourable mentions to all those who finished inside points, especially Stroll who finished fourth courtesy brilliant team strategy. Sainz almost crashed his car, before recovering it to P5.

Coming to the men on podium, brilliant race by Kvyat. He becomes second racer after Vettel, to be on podium for Toro Rosso. Good strategy and a confident drive.
Its sort of smack on the face whoever questioned Vettel about his abilities. He wasn't the best around the circuit, but he delivered where it mattered, drove the way it should have been. Hope it turns around for him for the remaining season, and win his race.
Verstappen is the only guy who can beat Hamilton this season. Its good to see Honda winning race number two half way through the season.

What could be more fitting than three RedBull program drivers on podium, driving for three different teams, at a circuit celebrating 125 years of Mercedes in motorsport.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

Apparently, Kvyat has became a father just last night and what a lucky charm the new born has brought to the father. Kvyat deserves that RBR seat than Gasly, who in my opinion, has been wasting the chances while his partner is on another level.

Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

What an eventful race!

It was quite something to see Lance Stroll going from last place to leading the race after one of the safety car restarts, all because of right strategy call! Reminded of Markus Winkelhock leading at Nurburgring 2007 in a Spyker.

Verstappen is turning out to be the driver of the season. Another race like this and he will be ahead of Bottas in standings.

EDIT:
Alfa Romeo lose their points because of an infringement! Williams score their first point of the season! Hamilton into points as well.

Re: Formula 1 : The German GP 2019

Just in! Both of the Alfa's have been pushed out of points, bringing (lucky)Hamilton into P9 and Kubica P10.
Alfa Romeo have been found mimicking traction control at the start of race.

Hamilton has one of the worst races of his career. Crashes, has a 50 second pit stop, serves time penalty, spins out, rejoins at the back of the track...and still extends his championship lead! #blessed indeed

And yaay for Williams and Kubica for the points finish!

Although I am an unabashed Lewis fan, but it was important that he experienced ground reality and failure. It was a series of cascading errors - first pushing a bit too hard and not pacing himself due to weather conditions, second, making a rash error in entering the pits but on the other had, he would have lost more time, going the proper way, and finally, the pressure to recoup his losses, he did exceedingly well to go up the ranks in a damaged car. He had nothing to lose but in reality, he could afford to let this race go and pace himself a little better.

Verstappen earned his race, he had an extremely twitchy car but he paced himself. Felt sorry for Bottas and Leclerc though. Vettel! He owned the race, no doubt about that, am happy for him!

A totally chaotic race. Intermediate tyres twice. God knows how many pit stops. However, it was managed well, with typical German efficiency.

Of the three cars on the podium two Verstappen and Kyvat were Honda engined. Only Vettel had Ferrari power! wait for more fun.

Absolutely unpredictable race. Every lap was entertaining.

Whole race in 1 1\2 minute.

Russell must be banging his head, he outraced Kubica in every races till now and one when Kubica beaten him he scored the point.

Seems Alfa Romeo is planning to appeal against the verdict and if sustained then Kubica may not be in points.
