No, it's usual Formula One content policies. They're very protective of their content and where it gets hosted. They usually block other sites from using embedded links (like the one you posted). They often aggresively take down YouTube videos too, unless posted by themselves or an authorised partner.

The grid looks great today. The weather is treacherous too...seems Perez has crashed on the way to the grid!

The Red Bull man got on the kerb too much and went off into the barriers, damaging his suspension. What a costly error.

Couple of handy folks in a start there - Riccardo is great on the brakes, Gasly is a quick starter. Russell and Hamilton in the mix along with Vettel. Vettel is a question though - since Red Bull he has not looked comfortable to me in a crowded situation which the start is sure to be.

It's going to be an incident packed race for sure at least the start. Wouldn't be surprised to see a red flag for the conditions and a safety car or two. Wouldn't be surprised to see the race start under safety car conditions.

Drive on,
Shibu.

Re: Formula 1 | 2021 Belgian Grand Prix | Spa-Francorchamps | 27-29 August 2021

The Sky Sports commentators are constantly talking over the live feed interviews. Studio director taking a nap while it rains, I guess

Meanwhile, the stewards appear to have reversed their position reg. Perez, and he can start from the pitlane if the car can be fixed in Parc Ferme.

Edit: Technical regulation loopholes galore. Formation laps done under Safety Car are deducted from total race laps using a formula, but the race hasn't technically started so the race clock isn't counting down yet.

So we're in a bizarre situation of having lost a racing lap (43 of 44 remaining) without the racing having technically started at all. Same situation why Perez has been allowed to rejoin, because the rules as written don't cover the situation where a car gets damaged on the way to the grid, and there's a sizeable gap between the damage and the official race start.

Goes to show you could write the most detailed manual and still won't cover every possibility!

It’s an odd situation with Perez.
I am not able to comprehend where does he starts at the grid ? Does he go back to his original P7 or he starts at the back or from the pit ?
Is he gonna be few laps behind others or not?

Original p7, race has not started at all.

Did the stewards change their ruling again? Last I heard on the live feed, they'd approved a pit lane start if the car can be fixed before the official start.

Failing to make the grid correctly after being a classified qualifier carries its own penalties, so that may also come into play later.

I think at the moment there’s a lot of confusion on the track but I don’t believe they would let him start at P7.
I second your opinion that it might be a pit start.
Let’s wait and see.
Just a very interesting and a bizarre season we’ve got !

Meanwhile, Alan van der Merwe (designated medical car driver) is having all the fun in his AMG (a C63S, if I remember right) around Spa in the rain, with Bernd Mayländer in the safety car stuck in the pitlane heading the train.

If that two tonne monster is aquaplaning (he nearly binned it a couple times), no way a featherweight F1 car can race in these conditions.

Re: Formula 1 | 2021 Belgian Grand Prix | Spa-Francorchamps | 27-29 August 2021

Much as it sucks for everyone, esp. trackside fans who've braved the rain to stay behind, the visibility is awfully bad in the spray. Verstappen can't even stick behind the safety car, how is anyone behind the lead car supposed to see anything at racing speeds?

I'd love a race, but not at the cost of driver safety. Call this thing off and maybe reschedule for later in the year if another venue drops out?

Edit: Red Flagged again.

If two laps are completed with the current standing, & then rest of the race is suspended; Russel might get the first podium of his career after completing only two laps in a race! What a bizarre way that would be to achieve the same!

Re: Formula 1 | 2021 Belgian Grand Prix | Spa-Francorchamps | 27-29 August 2021

Race has been officially called off, finally!

What a paradox! One of the easiest wins for Max in one of the toughest race conditions!! George Russell would be mighty pleased with the result as well.

Not a great race from fans' perspective, Max and George wouldn't complain though.

It's a farce to hand out points for this "race".
Would have agreed if these laps in full racing conditions and not behind safety car.

This is a race where a lot of good drivers would have had chance score points with their weaker cars.

Pathetic to classify it as a race.

From the past “what a race!”, it became “what race?”

Only person thrilled with the result was George Russel

Re: Formula 1 | 2021 Belgian Grand Prix | Spa-Francorchamps | 27-29 August 2021

A disappointing Sunday, of all the opinions, all agreed it was simply too wet to race.

The issue therefore is only of the half points that were awarded. Few in favour of it, others not.

I am still sitting on the fence on this one, simply because I feel it would be unfair if George Russel went back home empty handed after a qualifying like that! The most stand out performance of the season.

If not for his heroics I would have agreed it is quite farcical to handout out points without any actual racing.

Shame for the fans for sure.

Only option would be to keep a Monday reserve day, which is very complicated given Marshals are temporary and have their jobs to get back to and logistics for the next race.
