Formula 1 | Ooredoo Qatar Grand Prix 2021 | Losail International Circuit | 19-21 November, 2021

The Losail International Circuit, located on the outskirts of the capital city of Doha, was built in preparation for hosting Qatar’s first ever MotoGP event in 2004, with the circuit completed in just over a year.

Designed primarily with motorcycle racing in mind, the 5.4-kilometre Losail International Circuit is a fast and flowing track, where medium- and high-speed corners predominate. Over one kilometer of the track’s total length is made up of the main straight, which provides plenty of overtaking opportunities into Turn 1.

12-13-14 looks fabulous onboard a car!

That'll be the section drivers might need to nail traling closely to setup a pass down the main straight, and it can be brutal on the tires on a grippy circuit if it takes a few tries.

Q3 final runs might end up looking like Italy 2019 with nobody wanting to go first.

Car number 44 is running magically fast.

I won't be surprised if the Mercedes take another engine penalty this season in the forth coming races.

Perez

Puncture for Gasley, he was having a good run!

Hamilton nailed that last run. The Merc looks twitchy in S1 but on rails in S2 & S3. Terrific effort and fantastic to watch.

A shame for Gasly, the outside kerb on turn 15 is brutal, a real tank-slapper, might catch a few guys out on high fuel in the first race stint.

Old man Alonso getting into a groove. Renault, please give him a good car one last time before he retires. Pretty please!

This was the largest gap between Hamilton and Verstappen since Hungary. Number 44 on fire, both driver and wagon.

Usual suspects at the back, notable struggles for Perez, Leclerc and Ricciardo and even Bottas. Nice ones from Gasly, Seb and Alonso.

Anyone else expecting a Senna-Prost style crash into T1 tomorrow?

Lets hope Max doesn't turn into a bowling ball.

Lewis cannot celebrate until they cross the chequered flag tomorrow in one piece and ahead of Max.

Those Mercedes were lit, totally annihilating the Redbulls.

However I would like to bring to notice to Hamilton's and Max's fans - In the post race interview, when questioned about the faster Mercedes, Max only replied by saying "we are lacking and have to find the pace" unlike Lewis a few races ago did not leave even a single chance to crib about the faster Redbulls, and always blamed that there is something with their new engines.

And there lies the biggest reason for me being a Max fan.

One-trick's history suggests an attempt for the same, or he will again show incompetence when the red mist descends. Either way, Lewis will be wary. The race is going to be a cracker for sure.

PS: how long before Horner does a Horner?

Re: Formula 1 | Ooredoo Qatar Grand Prix 2021 | Losail International Circuit | 19-21 November, 2021

What a belter of a lap from Hamilton. 4 tens up on Max. That lap looked sweet as Lewis himself mentioned. Even if it were not for the Gasly incident I am not sure Max would have been able to beat Lewis' pace.

Red Bull look under the pump. A problem with tyre temps meant that Perez didn't even make it to Q3. That's going to mean 2 Mercs against Max and a host of strategy options in favour of Mercedes. Hope RB can come up with some innovative strategy for Perez.

Sainz seems to have stole the momentum from Leclerc at Ferrari in the last few races. He is slowly emerging as the key driver at Ferrari. P3 in the championship is close

Alpines did extremely well today and Alonso in particular looked especially racy.

Drive on,
Shibu.

He's using an older engine and not the Brazil one. So I guess he put in a better lap(yes it is possible) than Verstappen and Bottas.

It was a case of who got a better setup and more practice.

Nope you need to listen to the full interview, he said he still thinks there is something going on with the mercedes.
In fact it was Max who touched lewis car in Brazil and only then Redbull informed the FIA, where the the mercedes wing failed the DRS gap test on the right hand side, which Mercedes where not allowed to fix. After the FIA returned the wing, Mercedes found two screws where loose which explains the 0.2mm deviation on one side only.

I was always open between both and always said let the better man win. After last race and only due to Max’s weaving stunt down the main straight for which he got the shameful black and white flag, I don’t think he deserves to win the world championship. It was not in the heat of the moment or red mist it was a calculated loser tactic to ensure Hamilton stays behind.

When informed by the team he has got a black and white flag, he replied “tell them hi”. Ridiculous and shameful. Hope he loses the battle.

Cheers

Re: Formula 1 | Ooredoo Qatar Grand Prix 2021 | Losail International Circuit | 19-21 November, 2021

Max, Bottas and Sainz have all been summoned to meet the stewards for ignoring the yellow flags. In the case of Max he was the only one who improved is time and unlike the other two who had single waved yellow flag, Max had double yellow flags. Which according to Race director notes before race, a driver has to completely abandon the lap if there is a double waved yellow flag.

In 2020 Austria Lewis got a 3 place grid penalty for something similar, after the Redbull team complained( they complained even when they are not in drivers or constructors fight). So
