Re: Formula 1 | STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2021 | Jeddah Corniche Circuit | 03 - 05 December, 2021

Brilliant track. The turns just keep coming one after the other relentlessly. Drivers will be exhausted after the race. The track layout seems like a mix of Singapore, Monza and Silverstone. Overtaking might get little tricky here despite 3 DRS zones.

We will see how the race pans out but I am expecting a couple of safety car periods at the least. Hope Mad Max pulls out a special one and wins.

BTW, did anyone notice the Aston Martin safety and medical car colors? Looked like a different green than usual.

If you have seen the F2 Sprint Race highlights, P2 & P3 seems to get a better start than P1. In both those races we can see the P1 car moving across to the inside line to avoid getting overtaken.

From what we saw in Mexico where MAX leapfrogged both Merc into Turn 1, I would not rule him out to do the same, Mercs are going to need to play the game to perfection at the start of the race to keep MAX at bay into turn 1.

P2 is a great place to start, having the inside line down to turn 1, similar to what we saw at COTA. Can’t really say the same about P3. Also HAM won’t have to aggressively move to the inside to defend, it goes without saying at Mercedes that Bottas won’t try to take the lead at such a crucial stage in the WDC fight.

What a track this has been. Drivers pushing their limits and the qualifying was so great to watch. Hope Max hasn't damaged his gearbox for the race resulting in grid penalty. This has been a really close season after a long time!

Red bill are not changing the gearbox. They have found it to be ok.

That is correct. The safety and medical car are in shade of Saudi flag green.

Red Bull are gamblers in a way Merc just aren't.

Left Verstappen out under SC, gambling there may be another SC/VSC or a red flag later on, and now have track position plus a free pitstop!

Merc can't really moan about it being unsporting (well they can and are), but they got to do the same at Imola. If memory serves right, they even repaired bits on Hamilton's car at that race in the stoppage.

Very, Very smart from RedBull. I was just talking to my friend about this situation when it happened.

I get that it's going to be a bit controversial but the commentators need to stop with their somewhat biased commentary.

That red flag would be instrumental in deciding the F1 champion of 2021.

This circuit is great, fast with a very small margin for error. Waiting for it to restart now.

Turns out there have been six such incidents in 2021 so far and it appears Mercedes (despite profiting from it once earlier) have gambled on a red flag not being waved. I've lost count of the strategy errors they've made this season.

Max making a case for his crashtappen title. He was clearly trying to take out lewis.

Oh boy! Getting feisty around here. Coming from a Max fan, I think Max might not have turned his wheel completely like T4 in Brazil. Lewis clearly had the better start no doubt.

It's going to be a long race but one that'll be worthy to watch. More importantly really happy both George and Nikita are fine.

Good thing RB are giving back that position now. Absolutely no point racing like that

That's way too desperate there, Maxie boy. As much as I want you to win, this isn't the way. And I'm fully expecting a repeat of the situation or worse on the next start if it's a standing one.
