Re: Formula 1 : 2025 Season

Race week.

Word on the street in terms of the pecking order as follows :

1. McLaren - clearly ahead. All out Norris vs Piastri it seems.
2. Ferrari/Mercedes/Red Bull all close.
5. Alpine, Williams - both have made considerable progress over the winter.
7. Haas
8. VCarb
9. Aston - Sadly a very disappointing winter.
10. Sauber.

Lets see how it all pans out.

It's really simple and similar to any other Fantasy League. Detailed Instructions on this page
  • You get a Budget (Cost Cap),
  • You choose 6 drivers and 2 Teams.
  • One can create upto 3 teams (each gets it's budget)
  • You get finite number of transfers
  • Off course there are other bells and whistles such as 2X points, DRS Boost, etc to earn accelerated points.
  • And that's it really. It's just fun way to follow the season. Not to be taken too seriously
Now, lets take the conversation to dedicated thread (Fantasy Formula 1 Game) as mentioned by nova.19_exe

Pretty sure Aston should be judged based on next year's car. That's the one that's going to have the full benefit of Newey's involvement.

I've not followed closely but I suspect a similar deal is at play at Sauber too. They've amassed quite the technical team, poaching some big paddock names. Maybe Audi is counting on showing their hand when the team comes out in full factory colours. I bet they've not committed much if at all resource to this year's car. Besides, isn't it in their interest to be back of the grid? If wind tunnel time is reverse scaled, the further back Sauber are the more test time Audi benefit from. Considering they're starting from scratch on the PU and less so with aero, that'll all help.

It's a stable year regulation wise so I don't think we can expect big shake ups on the grid. But any Williams resurgence is a welcome sign.

Re: Formula 1 : 2025 Season

It is McLaren’s on the front row for the season opener and as usual Ferrari out qualified by junior Redbull and Wiliams.

And rain is expected tomorrow so it’s going to be really interesting.

Re: Formula 1 : 2025 Season

Good start to the season, as expected McLaren starting strong, they have the car and the drivers to take it all the way this time.

What a blunder by Redbull to not promote Tsunoda to senior team, they will not even finish in top 3 in constructors.

Albon finishing ahead of Ferrari, Sainz in top 10, he can be motivated now that he has the car to challenge and beat Ferrari this season.

Hamilton fans hopes dashed early season, I don’t see that car beating McLaren, so #8 continues to be a dream. Yuki outpacing them is a concern for them.

Max is just amazing, he finishes in top 3 and continues to drive like a champion.

Hope it rains tomorrow, that will level the playing field, great start to season.

Re: Formula 1 : 2025 Season

McLaren dominating from race 1. Way to Lando Norris and the McLaren team.

With two experienced drivers, their claim to top rank this season is probably the strongest.

However still rooting for Lewis Hamilton. May appear wishful but hoping for his 8th World Drivers' Championship title.

Re: Formula 1 : 2025 Season

Great start to the season! And the rains made sure that the McLarens were not running away with 1-2.

Sorry to Isaak after waiting all the year and didn’t get a chance to start. And complete contrasting radio messages by Lewis compared to the one with Bono, he didn’t like the baby sitting, but it will get better once they know each other as season progresses. Also he caught napping twice, first by Charles after SC restart and at the final corner by Oscar.

Ferrari as usual didn’t surprise with their idiotic race decisions, it was raining hard and they decided to stick to slicks and threw away the guaranteed podium.

Great race from Albon and Yuki till the last rains.

And yey, another Kimi to cheer for, he got somehow lucky with rains and SCs, but credit to him for keeping it on track and came home 4th.

I don’t think Yuki would have made the difference, or done any better than Lawson in the 2nd Red Bull seat. Let’s not judge Lawson based on one weekend.

That car is incredibly hard to drive, from all the chatter in the paddock and also from Albon’s candid interview.

Red Bull needs to find a balance in that car, but in doing so it may hurt Max’s chances as he likes it set up the way it is presently.

I wouldn’t write off Lewis this early in the season.

If you see his individual sector times during Saturday quali, he was actually quicker than Lec and managed to register times that were about a tenth quicker per sector. He just wasn’t able to stitch the lap together.

And this was his first weekend in a new car and a new team, whereas Lec has been with this team since 2019! And we all know Lec is arguably the best qualifier on the grid.

I’d say Lewis is right on the pace with Lec, all things considered!

After Aston's disaster last season and worrying trend of upgrades making the car slower, this year is key to ensuring the technical team as a whole understands what they are doing. The only way forward is incremental, Newey will take time to form the structure and get the results.

Similar with Sauber, they must build confidence this year. Wind tunnel time is improtant but far from being the only important factor.

Re: Formula 1 : 2025 Season

Hamilton on pole for sprint followed by Max with a difference of 0.018 seconds. This is a very interesting result which I was not expecting. Norris on P6.

Tsunoda continues to impress with RB20 and Lawson continues to disappoint two races in a row. Should be a good Sprint tomorrow and even better Qualifying.
