And I would tend to agree with you on that.
It was primarily the bait of the No 1 car remaining with them.....and the fact that it would be an all-British line-up.
ive been reading reports that kimi gets paid a lot more by ferrari than what any team will currently offer to sit the season out. this is because his contract was terminated before its time. so i pressume kimi is using this to his advantage.
also, nick heidfeld shud move to mercedes, he is one truly deserving driver. very quick and not so much in the news + he is german.
Dunno what exactly Kimi wants now. If he thinks its only Ferrari and McLaren who can produce championship winning cars, then he's virtually putting himself out of the game. Ferrari have their drivers and McLaren have their pairing too. All those contracts are multi year deals. Where exactly does Kimi expect to find himself in 2011? He's either really had enough of F1 or he's making an enormously stupid move. I suspect its the former, but then why can't he just say that he wants to try other forms of motorsport?
Was watching morning news in BBC World and in sports section it was reported that Schumi would return to F1 and team with former team mate Ron Brawn to race in a Mercedes car replacing Button .:Shockked: ( cannot even dream of Scuhmi donning any cap other than a Ferrari )
Is this another hyped situation on suchmi's return or most probably a reailty .
if it all the same happens were is F1 headed .
BBC got it wrong last night. They actually headlined that Schumi will be back for Mercedes in 2010. I was like :Shockked:. Read the full article and then you realise it is just Eddie Jordan's belief. :Frustrati.
BBC Sport - F1 - Mercedes want Michael Schumacher to drive in F1 team
I dont think Schumi would return and I would not be happy if drives for any other team other than Ferrari. I am sure Luca would have had a word with Schumi.
As good as it sounds I dont think that will happen.
Kimi would be their first choice .What about nick heidfield and kubica ?
It is as remote as it would be fantastic.
But again as much as he is got a relationship with Ferrari , same goes with ross brawn too.
Shumi will not return to F1 unless there is a dire need for it. Like last season`s case, it was because of massa`s incident that he was trying to make a comeback. Now that`s a "NEED". I think Unless there is a similar situation, that too if its for ferrari, then he might think of stepping in that red moster once again. Otherwise he is a living legend and the man has got nothing else to prove.
Schumi won't drive for any other team besides ferrari. If I'm not wrong, then he's still in the advisory board for ferrari F1 team right. He's got too long a relationship with the Italians to race for Brawn. And as another gentlemen said, he's a living legend, he doesn't need to prove anything.
Schumi is part of Ferrari Team as an advisor to Ferrari and there are possibilities of him being offered Director of Ferrari F1. With this in light, Schumi has a better life planned out with Ferrari and with such an enjoyable 'retirement', it would take a lot from any team to pull him back into sport.

Red Bull is a sponsor of Citroen in WRC .
And Mark Webber of RBR has his contract ending in 2010 .
Mercedes might have a seat too .
But in all probability his f1 career is done .
Jose Maria Lopez has revealed that he will race for US F1 next season if he can secure the rest of his sponsorship package.

Yeah but what makes RBR better than Merc in Kimi's eyes? And if he believed that Merc could do it, then he'd take that last seat now.

Ross Brawn rules out Schumacher's return for Mercedes - dnaindia.com
Further, Ross Brawn says
"I do not want a novice who must find his way around racetracks because we have very few opportunities to test drivers now. Performance without much practice is therefore the task."
Doesn't Kimi seem to be a logical choice now?
Lets see how this goes...
There are rumors already that Kimi has signed a 1-year contract with Mercedes and also in process of acquiring a more juicy offer with RB from 2011.
Most of the F1 circle is awaiting the announcement of the Merc drivers. The team for sure needs a driver who can win Drivers Championship rather than hiring Free Practice Champions :D
What about heikki kovalainen? He is going to sign with any new F1 teams? 3 years experience with formula1, he is looking any new contracts?
