The F10 will also feature a new diffuser design! The F10 looks promising, need to keep my fingers crossed till the testing is complete!

The new F10 we had to review the whole car, from the nose to the rear wing, for two main reasons: the substantial changes in some of the rules and because we had to recover an obvious performance deficit we had last year compared to our competitors,” he said. “We had to make the car longer to fit the bigger [fuel] tank, and we had to revise the car’s front end because the tyres are different.

“And perhaps more importantly, we also had to revise the car’s rear axle to exploit the double diffuser as much as possible.”
In order to free up space for a larger diffuser the F10 has a much more compact gearbox than its predecessor and revised rear suspension, although the chassis as a whole is longer to accommodate the larger fuel tank required this year now that refuelling is banned.
“Last year we weren’t able to build a diffuser that was efficient enough, because the car hadn’t been planned from the start for something like that,” said Tombazis.
“And in fact the F2009’s gearbox was too wide, so we weren’t able to exploit the double diffuser as much as we would have liked to.
“This year we completely revised the gearbox and made it smaller, so there’s more space for the diffuser, and we also worked on the rear suspension.
“Some of the internal parts of this narrower gearbox had to be redesigned; building an efficient, reliable and sufficiently rigid gearbox was an important task.
“So the area which is visually very different from last year’s car is around the diffuser – which, due to the mechanical work and [changes to] the gearbox and the suspension, is now bigger.

Initial observations: clearly shows that the overall length is much longer with larger wheel base probably to accommodate bigger fuel tank

Initial observations:
Copying a successful design is pretty easy way to start i guess the nose looks so much like red bull design,
The front wing looks much like last year (evolution)probably they haven't revealed the final one
Surprisingly the rear wing is much lower.
The Air box seems to be little smaller and placed higher.

PS: i really didn't like the color scheme though, its personal i guess

Hey thanks for the comparison pics, really nice... It's surprising that the exhausts on both the F2009 & the F10 match up despite the increased length. The fuel tank is ~ twice as large as last year's & must necessarily be between the "front" of the engine & the driver (Tech. Regulations Article 6) - so a more rear-ward placing of the exhaust was expected. I guess Ferrari are using an arrangement like in the old Red-Bull F1 car to move the exhaust outlet forward.

I'm beginning to like the body work restrictions, the cars are look much cleaner - can't imagine they used to look like this

The F10 is wierdly loooong. i am not liking the design.

Last year also they had a long car, and this time much longer than the last.

Both the drivers will have a tough time.

Lets wait for the others to start showcasing their cars.

41 Days for the first race and only one constructor unveiling their car, when will the rest of 12 constructors reveal their cars??????

i think mclaren's wheelbase is longer than Ferrari's. Both the cars looks like lego model :-)

London launch for new Lotus

They had already named the date, but now the new Lotus team have also announced a venue for the launch of the car in which Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen will contest the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The wraps will come off the Malaysian-backed squad’s first F1 car at London’s Royal Horticultural Hall in the UK on Friday 12 February. An expected audience of 400 guests will be the first to see the new Lotus livery.

The Lotus name was last seen in Formula One racing in 1994, when the team originally founded by Colin Chapman bowed out of the sport.

Now there's a radical car. That engine cover is easily the most eye catching design change yet. I hope it works well and gives them an aerodynamic edge. There's also the tiny sidepods and a diffuser that seems to have stretched the rules to the limit. It appears the diffuser has Ferrari worried too.

Those are some really jaw dropping designs from Mclaren and to a lesser extent from Ferrari.

So what does Adrain Newey and co have that they have shied away from the first test ?!

It only gets more interesting with each passing day !

The cars seem to look better than last year .
