This is one frustrating part of ownership of the Micra and Sunny for those with less running. You need to go for service every 6 months and the total cost comes above a VW Vento D whose service interval is once a year and amounts to ~11k only.

Also, can you tell me the regular 40,000 kms service labour cost. My uncle told it was 2750 which looked quite unrealistic.

I think the A/C compressor on and off are more to the out side temperature. While I was in Bangalore, I never faced this issue as A/C was always on minimal position, but in Pune during summer noon I sometime have to put the A/C on higher side and then I have faced this issue. I feel because of the larger glass area on front, the compressor have to work more frequently to keep the cabin cool. I am no expert on this, but this is my assumption.

Regarding the drag,my micra is a petrol one (3 cylinder), and I always feel some loss of power whenever I switch on the A/C, but I have not feel on difference of power during compressor switch on or off.

re: Nissan Micra Diesel. EDIT: 140,000 km / 10 years of happy ownership

My Car has done 90,000 kms. Running good, no issues. Service bill was close to Rs 6500/-. Was adviced clutch and timing chain replacement at 85,000 km service but i didnt comply. Clutch failed completely yesterday. Will get the clutch replacement done on Monday. Any suggestion when and why timing chain be replaced?

It is a very hard-worked component of your engine, and, if it fails, the entire engine will suffer catastrophic damage. They were right about the clutch, it seems, so perhaps you should accept the recommendation for a new timing chain.

What is the quoted cost?

Timing chain for the Micra D needs to be changed at 3 yrs or 60000 kms whichever is earlier. Since it is a rubber component, not a chain, even if the running is low, one has to change it as per the time period. I had just 25000 kms on my odo when my timing belt was changed. They said that some people had suffered engine valve damage due to not changing timing belt on time. Earlier they were slotted in to change the belt at 4 yrs but now it has been reduced seeing more failures. Please change it immediately.

Do change the tension pulley for the timing belt and the alternator belt along with it. All the three alone might cost you around 10k. I was spared replacing the tension pulley since it is not a rubber part and my running is too low.

The same when I inquired for my VW Vento, they said they need not change the belt with respect to time and their belt last for around a lac kms. I am really pissed off with the maintenance cost for the Micra D, especially when my running is too low.

re: Nissan Micra Diesel. EDIT: 140,000 km / 10 years of happy ownership

First major maintenance bill for my micra. The clutch failed due to hydraulic failure. Replacement cost 18000/- Got the timing belt and tensioner replaced. Cost Rs 9000. With 95,000 km service due total bill will be Rs 35,000/-
At 95,000 kms, I am one happy owner of Micra. Absolutely no issues, no part failure, no rattles, nothing. The car zips through Delhi's traffic, AC works fabulous. Even in peek summer with single or double occupancy, fan runs at speed II. The interiors look as fresh as a one year old car.

I was looking for this; the clutch replacement cost for the Micra. I was contemplating on keeping or selling the Micra vs Vento. Why I'm looking at the clutch costs is because my wifey has a tendency to ride the clutch and I'm sure it will wear of prematurely. The Vento clutch and flywheel costs ~40k. Did you have to change the flywheel too?

I'm having a horrible time with my a/c. On rare occasions, the actuator gets stuck a bit and cold air flows to the legs even if the mode is directed to the face. Cycle through the modes and it is gone. And on some other rare occasions, I feel a a lot of time to cool the cabin from super hot conditions. Up the temperature and bring it down, it cools faster; something with the auto climate control I believe. And recently I get slight outside odor in the cabin even if I am on recirculating mode. On top of this, I hate the compressor getting turned on with jerk every 10 seconds if the fan is on low speed (the pressure temperature combination at the evaporator decide the timings). I'm wondering no one else is complaining about it. I even tried it on a brand new showroom car.

Yes the fly wheel was changed too. My driving is typically bumper to bumper in Delhi with a weekly outstation trip. Clutch lasted 85,000km which I believe is very good.
If the actuator is giving problems, it can be taken care off with AC Service. Probably needs cleaning and oiling for smooth running. Ac turning off frequently can be due to faulty sensors. Many Nissan Sunny are being used as cabs. Have a word with those cab drivers. There are efficient AC mechanics in every metro. Give it a try.

Re: Nissan Micra Diesel. EDIT: Added some bling to interiors

I was getting bored of 'greige' interiors of my Micra decided to add some chrome to it. Couldn't find much options online and at accessories shops. The original chrome door handles cost Rs 2500 apiece and 15-2000 INR in grey Then Aliexpress comes to rescue. Here is the result.

How much did it cost you? Can I get the a/c vent inserts alone? Is so, how much would it cost? Is the a/c vent chrome a DIY fix?

Is that a gear lock in the last picture?

Hello Bravo, congrats on your micra completing 95k. I have a diesel micra too and is inching towards 84k. Could you please tell me the engine oil grade your service centre use? One of the service centres in my city said they use 10w30 which I primarily think is a motorbike engine oil. Have you ever tried doing routine service outside Nissan A.S.S ? I'm contemplating to do an oil change from an outside garage with a Purolator air filter and Bosch oil filter, still undecided on the oil. Please advise me on the same.
