Hey, I have done the same for my Spark.

I removed the blower unit as well, to get better access to remove the tissue paper that got stuck inside. Undo 4 screws holding the blower and you are done. Undoing the screw is bit tricky, as you have to lie down in the footwell.

Regarding mileage, I am getting 10-12.5 Kmpl in city, 80% A/C. The best I managed was 20.xx Kmpl, 100% A/C, 100% Highway @ 80-90 Kmph.

How to I check the mileage by T-T method? Are there any aftermarket cabin filters available? Like ones you slip behind the stock air filter box?

To check the mileage, you must set the trip meter to zero, and then fill full tank of fuel. The next time when you fill the tank full, note the distance covered(from trip meter). Divide the distance by fuel filled, you got the mileage.

@ Eminenttismo: My initial ownership report is up and running.

Latest acquisition, a dent that is as long as the car.

The LH Door doesn't open, the fender is not my car's, :Frustrati
Don't know how it happened. Will confirm it later.

Can anyone please estimate how much it would cost? For now, I'm thinking of my local chevy workshop, should I get it done outside?

^^^ Gosh! That look bad. How did this happen? It looks like something banged from the left at perpendicular direction on the bumper. Usually, under normal insurance policies, bumper cost has to be borne 50% by the owner. But if you have zero dep, then negligible cost.

All the best for the repairs.

I showed this to a local painter, and he said it's better to claim the Insurance. Guys, please enlighten me. As I(my family) have never encountered a situation as this. How do I go ahead claim the insurance.

The estimate is about INR97k
Thanks!

EDIT: While my father was at usual work, parked the car. By the time he came back^^.:Frustrati

AFAIK, chevy guys charge 2500 per panel + taxes extra.

Hey,
By panel, you mean the fender? My Spark is GenI, broke the LH Tail Lamp recently(in different situation), can I get the old model Taillamp? Thanks!

UPDATE:The Rear bumper has been fixed back by opening it up and then fixing it with patience. The fit as expected is not "Perfect", but I'm good.

Here is the estimate given by a local painter (not from chevy workshop):

LH Fender Denting: 0500
LH Fender Painting: 1600
^ Extras: 0075
LH FRT Door Denting: 0750
LH FRT Door Painting: 2000
^ Extras: 0100
LH RR Door Denting: 0750
LH RR Door Painting: 2000
^ Extras: 0100
LH Quarter Panel Denting: 0150
LH Quarter Panel Painting: 1600

TOTAL: 9625

*All Prices in INR

What do you think guys?
Reasonable?
Should I get it done here or in Chevy WorkShop?

Anyother suggestions on how I should claim the insurance?

Thanks!

Thanks!

That sounds reasonable.

I had an accident last year for which bill came to 17800 Rs. I paid around 4XXX from my pocket after claiming insurance.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/street...ml#post2549644

From my earlier bill,
Right Fender 1330
Right Door 4803
Painting 5500

If you go for the repair from Chevy A**, the amount will be certainly above 9.5K. But if you avail insurance, I think you will be shelling out less than 9.5K. But the problem with claiming insurance is, you will loose NCB(Non Claim Bonus), so the next time the insurance premium will be higher.
If you take my example, instead of paying 3800 Rs, I ended up paying 63XX Rs.

Quoting from my earlier post
Quote:

I took my insurance from United India Insurance.
This is how it works,First you have to get an estimate from the dealer, a FIR if it exceeds 20,000Rs, Original insurance policy, RC book, Driving Licence. You should fill a claim forum(from insurance office) , and bring all the above documents. Once verified, they will forward it to a surveyor. He will go to the the workshop and asess the damage. The dealer can start the repair once he has given the approval.

After this one have to pay the whole amount, submit the bill to the surveyor. He completes the report by calculating how much the insurer has to bear and forward the report to the office from where you took the insurance. Submit your bill and original policy at that office, and collect your insurance money.

This is how I did. I have no idea regarding other insurance company. But my dealer said that they are having tie up with ICICI Lombard insurance and several others where you can avail cashless facility. Which means I only need to pay 3000 odd Rs to get my car back, not the full amount and all the paper work will be done by the dealer.

My suggestion to you will be, if you have enough time do get a estimate from A**. You can calculate how much you have to shell out, add the additional amount you will be paying extra for the insurance premium next year. If it is less than 9.5K(local painter), go for the A**.

Few things to note, the A** will be pushing for the replacement of the panels. Please push for tinkering, as the damages to the panel looks minimal.

I would suggest you to go with Chevy A.S.S. and claim the insurance. Its always better to have such big repairs on record. If anything goes wrong (God forbid), you can always catch the Chevy guys by their collars. I am not sure if you can do that with a local garage guy, since he is going to say that there is no guarantee of what he is doing.

Even though you will lose the NCB, its a matter of 20-25% of the premium.

@ecenandu Thanks for the detailed reply!:) I will get it done at CASS as I'm a little worried about the post denting finish. Also, will submit the estimate to the surveyor ASAP. Thanks!

@ajay_satpute Yes, that's a valid point. Repairs as such must be recorded and I'll go by your advice. Thanks!

I was worried. Worried because, I broke the tail lamp of my car and I assumed the V1 Tail Lamps are not in production. Nay, they are. It was a counter sale and thus labor was not included. And are made in Korea, cost INR1025(which would have costed less if they were made in India!). I suppose, the V2 tail lamps are made in India.

BREAKUP OF COST:
Part No.: J96666913
Tail Lamp LH
Rate: 895.20
VAT @ 14.5%

Total: 1025

The person in the pictures is my friend, You must have come across him the conversation in Page1.

On Chevy ***, Mr.Khalil was not there. He is in Pune right now undergoing training on Chevy Sail Twins. The other mechanics were clueless if the V1 Lamp Assembly is available or not. Anyway, the person on the parts sales desk knew. It IS available. Err, they were so SLOW in making the bill, I was sweating due to lack of fans(power off):deadhorse. They took 1/2hr to make a small bill. Pity.

On Chevy Sail, the service adviser says, it might be launched in Q1 of 2013 as it is almost the end of the year now. Relevant??.
