re: My '09 pre-owned Toyota Innova 2.5L V variant : *Update* 100,000 Km Up

Hello Suhaas, just wanted to let you know that on 8th Nov 2014 I brought home a preworhipped Innova-V (courtesy the lead given by our TBHP member, Shahbaaz). Whenever you have some free time or on a week end you can catch up with my Innova ownership experience at the below mentioned URL. I hope I have been able to post a balanced review that includes all the good and bad things about the car. I have tried my best to be extremely neutral & unbiased. I have accepted the car for what it is, including the pros as well as the cons.

Any queries, suggestions, comments are most welcome

Odo crossed 73,000 Kms some days ago, have put on more compared to previous owner. In 3+ years of ownership so far, Innova gets driven mainly on weekends barring few months in 2013 when it got used for daily commutes.

Many congrats Suhas on reaching that milestone Good to see your thread getting updated after such a long time. I guess you have covered around 39 K kms in the last 3 years. Good going. I have crossed the 63K km milestone just last week (car driven for 13K kms in last 7 months). Will try to catch up with you in the coming months. There is another BHPian, Shahbaaz, who has the same vintage pre worshipped car as mine and run same as yours. The three of us can plan to meet sometime in the near future over a weekend and exchange our experiences.

Sorry for hijacking your thread! I hope this post was of use!
Gave my Innova for 80k kms service today at 10 AM(Lanson Toyota). I was promised delivery at 3 PM with an estimate of ₹6428. But got a call at 12:30PM that car was ready. As usual impressive service. Given that it was a Sunday they were understaffed. Including tax and a voluntary change for wiper blades total bill was ₹8399. Which if you reduce 1k is decent for a major service. Asked them check the rear brake shoes, it is still running on the original set that came with the car when it was new! Well no change needed was the feedback!

Yours being daily drive, I am sure your Innova odo will cross mine pretty soon.

I noticed that. Thanks to you two, this thread was live while I was away. Let's meet up soon, I guess you have my number.

Yes, definitely. Good going on rear brake shoes. 80K Kms service involves change of all fluids.

I see that brake fluid, differential oil has been changed. What are 2 litres of 'TG ATF D-II', this wasn't seen in my 40K Kms service.
Wiper costs are bit more than Bosch wipers. And what for Rs. 99 of labour for changing wipers. Why can't those labour charges be part of overall service?
I always avoid that 'Mech care' thing, SA try to push it every time.

Services history for my Innova:

Listing only specific items that were replaced and total service cost.
  • 50K Kms service done at 47237 Kms: Door sensor on rear right was intermittently working leading to partially closed door without cabin lamp staying ON. Replaced switch for Rs. 102, labour Rs. 87. Oil & oil filter replaced. Total service cost Rs. 4130.
  • 55K Kms service done at 53319 Kms: Front brake pads changed for Rs. 4138 along with oil, oil filter change. Total service cost Rs. 8356.
  • 60K Kms service done at 59697 Kms: Oil, Oil filter, air filter changed. Total service cost Rs. 6146.
  • 65k Kms service done at 64589 Kms: AC filter(Rs. 1541) replaced. Total service cost Rs. 2982.
  • 70K Kms service done at 69699 Kms: Oil, Oil filter changed. Total service cost Rs. 4261.

Did a quick google search on TG ATF D II and it shows that it is transmission fluid. Now the fact is they inspect the transmission fluid every 40K kms but I wonder why he didn't mention about the change, I'm gonna ask him tomorrow. Even I forgot to ask him what that was when I saw the bill. Mech Care thing he said was part of routine but I knew that was all rubbish anyway let him do it, it is some insect repellant grease thing.

My daily drive from home to office and back adds 60kms to my odo, so it is ticking faster and I do have the accassional long trips lined up once or twice a month.

My pleasure. Sorry, but for some strange reason, I don't have your contact number.

Edit: Last year, when I changed my phone, I might have lost your contact number. Would you mind sending me your contact in a private message?

Thank you for sharing that, it really helps. I have one job lined up during my 65K service, need to get the front RHS bearing replaced. It makes a subtle humming noise at speeds of 60 kmph or above.

I request, now that you are back in action, please keep this thread updated (at least once a week if not more )

re: My '09 pre-owned Toyota Innova 2.5L V variant : *Update* 100,000 Km Up

A small correction TG ATF D II was power steering fluid and not transmission fluid. Confusing right cause when you google ATF it throws up transmission fluid as result.

Bit difficult considering my usage & vehicle that keeps running without any drama.

I haven't seen change interval for power steering fluid in manual. Was this suggested by SA or you got this changed?

My '09 pre-owned Toyota Innova 2.5L V variant : *Update* 100,000 Km Up-fuel-economy-chart.jpg

Here is fuel economy chart for last 3+ years for my Innova. Highest fuel economy was 15.52 kmpl on Goa-Pune route, lowest was 9.97 kmpl within city( bit too much short drives).

For diesel, highest I have paid is Rs. 65.24/liter (Pune, Oct'14) & lowest was Rs. 43.22/liter (Goa, Apr'12).
For 36,112 Kms so far, I have paid Rs. 160,373.2 for fuel which results in Rs. 4.44/km as running fuel cost.
Similarly, average fuel economy comes out to be 12.89 kmpl.

Power steering fluid is inspected every 10k kms and replaced if necessary according to the owners manual. So I guess it was time for a change.

Yes, it's working good. Usage had increased during monsoon, now it's back to occasional weekend drive. Odo has crossed 87k on mine too; had replaced all fluids at 80k kms service.

Thats great!
Recently I had partially opened the IP of my Innova to clean and to repair the Air Vents. But considering the wearing, I had to get them replaced in Sharayu.
