Congratulations Prasanna for the ZDi.
You have summed up all the aspects that a car review should have. May I use that as a template when I start writing my ZXi review?

I should get it delivered on 14th, and hope to start new thread soon after that.

Congratulations on the Ciaz, Prasanna. It looks very nice in that colour. Your review was excellent covering all the relevant aspects. Maintenance of any dark coloured car is an issue, but the stately look is worth the additional effort, isn't it?

Congratulations Prasanna. Glad to hear the Ciaz is serving you, the all-better way. Can you please elaborate on the typical maruti traits, such as rattles, fading off black plastic parts, handling on bad roads, etc. Can you also provide the details of service charges incurred, so far.

I have a vdi (+) and i love every bit of it, I even love the diesel clatter, the interiors are good & plush but they are dirt magnets. acceleration after the turbo kicks in is awesome, however i find that the cabin other wise is pretty silent accept for the road noise, which is most noticeable between 50-60 km/hr, beyond that its not much noticeable,
what i want to ask you is:
is it normal or something i should follow up?

Very true. I wash her once in 3 days. Looks awesome when clean.

Handling is average at higher triple digit speeds but totally confidence inspiring upto 120kmph. Ride quality is very good. I have started prefering Ciaz over my safari. No rattles so far, it is 17000km as of today.

Service costs of Maruti has gone up over the years. I paid 5k for 10000km oil service and 2k for first paid service at 15000km

17000km up! Ciaz has become lazy as I bought a beautiful CBR250R which I have been riding a lot.

A very detailed review of a very capable car. Congratulations for your new rides and wishing your a million miles of happiness on it. Your review is perfect in every sense and you have covered almost all the queries of any prospective c-segment car hunter at this moment. An year Ago, when I was planning to buy my First Car, Ciaz did make it to the top three, and the only reason for me to not make its selection was my previous experience with Maruti Swift. (Prior to my current car, all my cars were Dad sponsored, so technically not mine). Ciaz is a wonderful car with min numbing mileage figures.

Let me admit that the Official review by Team BHP followed by your detailed ownership review, inspired me for booking the Ciaz. Today I am a proud owner of this wonderful no-nonsense machine. The Ciaz ZXI.

I may belong to a minority community, whose preferences are for,

a. Comfort over insane speeds.
b. Reliability over ‘on-the-rail’ like handling.
c. Economy over life threatening acceleration.
d. Peace of mind over adrenaline rush.

I strongly believe in practicality over on the chart specs.

In the city conditions there is more need to quickly close the gaps and cross the signals briskly. Once out on an highway, I prefer enjoying every bit of the journey which includes outside window scenery, the beauty of twisting roads, the country side landscapes, simple yet basic life of nature, water bodies, et-al. All these forms can be enjoyed to the fullest only by sedate driving.

To me, the Ciaz ticks each and every box of essential requirements. The only function that is sorely missed on the Ciaz is a cooled Glove Box.

Coming to the maintenance costs, I have graduated to the Ciaz from an Indica Vista where the annual costs of maintenance were nearing Rs. 30k. Yes, that is right. I still remember the 12000 kms service cost on the Indica Vista, that was in excess of Rs.14k. I find your figures outright reasonable. Hope my new baby serves similarly.

Coming to service costs of Vista, it is shocking, since I also own a 1,00,000km run Safari which has an annual service cost of not more than 15-18k. The highest I paid was 40k for 90,000 service since there was some major replacements done(guess clutch and timing belt, not sure though).Congrats on the Ciaz, many happy miles to you.

I presume the quality of materials and workmanship on the Vista might not be a match to the Safari. Besides, mine was the 2009 model which we can safely assume to be amongst the “Guinea Pigs” for Tata Engineers. For sake of clarity, my car has undergone substantial part replacements both under warranty and beyond. I will elaborate on that aspect in a separate thread.

Yes, Ciaz in comparison seems to be light on pockets. :)

Hello friends, i have done matte black stickering on the front chrome grille. Also planning to have alloys painted gloss black. Just had a puncture and replaced spare tyre with the black rim. Car looks wicked!
