Terminal update of one terrific ownership experience

Dear BHPians,

I have sold my Maruti Ciaz.

Must be quite a surprise to many, knowing how much I loved and adored that car. But it's time to go.

Sold it to a fellow enthusiast and I am very happy it goes to responsible hands.

Parting odo : 1,33,216 km

Absolutely comfortable, terrific reliability, superb efficiency, excellent after sales and service. What's not to like in it? Build quality was average and steering was lifeless, but it had an amazing quality - it makes your drives effortless and peaceful. You tend to drive calmer vis a vis other cars. It's how it is. Spacious, comfortable, well insulated from external noise and that engine with low end lag, it all contributed to a rather peaceful driving experience.

Not a single niggle, not a single breakdown, and no major expenses for atleast another 70000 km.

I liked this car so much that I didn't even care to use my legendary, powerful 154 bhp 400 Nm Safari Storme V400. It has clocked just 26000 km in 3 years. It's time to put that baby to use.

It feels glad to sell a lovely-maintained car with a lot of life in it.

Not planning to buy any new car for now.

There she goes, one last time from my home

Adios Ciaz! And thank you everyone who have followed this thread. It was an amazing journey! I will catch up with my other ownership threads.

This is quite a shocking update! May I ask what made you sell it off suddenly?

It was reaching the 6 year mark, and with my usage, it would hit 1.5 lakh mark by the time it turns 6. The car was completely trouble free, except for the ac coil that had to be serviced.

There was this buyer who was interested in the car since last July. He is also an enthusiast who loves cars. I was also looking at my storme which was a sitting duck in my garage (26k km in 3 years).

I could have retained the ciaz and used the storme, but I dont want to hold the car and let its value erode like that.
Honestly, with ciaz in the garage, I wont be using the storme over it(have tried but never worked out). So it was a necessary decision to make. We had 3 full time users for cars till last year and hence we had 4 cars (3 full time and one as a spare) . Since one of us has relocated abroad, we dont need 4 cars for 2 users. Ciaz being the oldest in the family, I decided it had to go. That is also another reason.

I got a good resale considering the age and mileage the car has run while also ensuring that it goes to someone who will take care of it, atleast half as good as I would.

Emotionally a hard decision to make, but practically the best at this point in time.

Well, time changes our paths I guess.

I was not planning at a new car purchase at all. And did put my Storme to use. Precisely 22000 km in 9 months this year after selling the Ciaz.

But there is a problem. Diesel was 77 rupees a Liter when I sold the ciaz. It is 100 rupees a Liter today. It did have an impact, specially in a 154 bhp 2 tonne SUV, ending up in me spending consistently 25-30k every month on fuel alone.

I did have my kwid 1.0 too, which is economical, but isn't best suited to be a daily driver, given my high usage.

So there had to be a new car, something that is worthy enough to be a ciaz successor, as well as being VFM.

I booked an Altroz diesel XZ+ in downtown red colour on 4th of this month, and that gorgeous car just landed the yard today. I went and did a small PDI and the car passed it with flying colors.

Fun fact - The booking receipt number was 6592, my ciaz 's registration number. And currently the RTO series at my place is at TN 48 BC 6xxx. I really hope I get 6592 again. :)
