The acceleration is tangibly sluggish recently. It was the same at 30k km and I had the EGR cleaned. I need to do it again during the 1,10,000 km service.

Happy Valentine's day :D

Miraculously found some time off today. February has been very hectic that the ciaz looked dirty and untidy. Just used the free time for a good car wash.

Not bragging, or am I :uncontrol

Hello Prasanna sir, I have a query regarding the service. My ciaz is due to be serviced within a week. Whenever I visit MASS for service, the SA levies brake overhaul charges in the name of brake cleaning. I always insist that brake cleaning charges are included in pms, but he never agrees with me and I have to argue with him a lot everytime. How do you get your brakes cleaned.

Show them this and say you will escalate to TSM if you are charged for the tasks which are part of PMS:

Thank you sir for providing this screenshot, but then SA can insist that this circular is applicable in Kerala. :Frustrati Though, I have been getting my ciaz's brakes cleaned since last 2 services, but everytime the SA changes and I have to argue a lot with him.:deadhorse
Do you know details of pms jobs, like what services are included in it, by default. I consulted Naren sir also, he doesn't have complete circular.

If I remember correctly I paid extra for EGR cleaning and brake pads cleaning too. I didn't concentrate on it to realise it comes under PMS. Let me check during the 110k service if I can get EGR cleaning without paying extra.

110 k is going to bite me a little hard I guess. I am going to ask the SA if he can replace the timing belt, clutch and clean the EGR during this service. No issues so far, but I am just being proactive here. EGR definitely needs a cleaning as the acceleration is not as what it used to be.

Well, I made my friend get a reduction of 3143/- on this bill for 20,000 Km PMS for his Ignis in Mumbai last year. He was not only charged labor for brake cleaning but also additional labour for replacing brake pads and many other tasks!! He showed them this very circular and said he will take it up with higher ups for being scammed this way.

Almost 1,10,000 km done.

Odo : 1,09,900 km

I have been having difficulty with slotting the second gear at crawling speeds. I have decided to change the clutch. 1.10 lakh km is a pretty decent mileage for a stock clutch to last.

Taking the car for the 1,10,000 km service tomorrow.

Things to be done apart from regular PMS :

1. Clutch replacement
2. Wiper blades replacement
3. RHS fog lamp replacement (stock lamp has discoloured a bit)
4. RHS front wheel plastic flap replacement/repair (it is misaligned and a bit loose)
5. Horn replacement (Not at A.S.S , Roots windtone that I got fixed at an aftermarket shop is not functioning properly, most times only one of the dual horns work)

I will also see if timing belt needs to be replaced.

Overall, I will have to spend a bit tomorrow. Well, nothing compared to what I may spend in buying a new car now.

Mission : 2 lakh km on the odo :)

It needn't be an issue with clutch, please check if it's a problem with Gearbox Synchronizer as well.

Related thread for Gearbox Synchronizer.

Doesn't the 1.3 MJD come with a timing chain? There should be a schedule/interval for chain check/service/replacement in the manual.

Quite possible. I faced this issue only when the Odo was well above the 90,000 Km mark if I recollect. However, since the last replacement, I have not faced this issue again and driven on this set of sync rings for a lakh km already.

I was also told that the replacement rings are redesigned to mitigate recurrence of this issue although I am not sure how true is this claim.

It does come with a chain.

Coming to chain replacement, Maruti doesn't have a defined interval. The ASC will most likely listen to the engine note and clatter at idle speed from the outside and confirm if the replacement is due or not after hearing that unusual clatter.

I replaced my Ertiga's chain at 120,000 Km that too proactively despite of the ASC informing me that even after the noise starts, one can have a safe range of 10,000 Km before replacement. There was no noise heard in my car but I simply didn't want to risk something as crucial as timing chain and replaced it then.

Fiat's own recommendation for timing chain replacement in 90MJD (post April 2015 manufactured engines) in Punto/Linea is 90000 Km immaterial if noise is audible or not to be on safer side. Pre April 2015 manufactured 90MJD in fiats used to be 60000 Km. Now with new design we've migrated to 90000 Km life. This is where Maruti stretches the life of timing chain in their DDiS. Even if stranded anywhere on road the omnipresent MASS will take care.

Update: The ciaz has been given to A.S.S for the 1.1 lakh km service

Estimate : 22,000 INR
Jobs to be done :

1,10,000 km PMS
Wiper blade replacement
Sync ring and Clutch replacement
EGR cleaning
Wipers replacement
Check timing chain status and replace if needed

The service advisor (very well acquainted over the years) told me 1 lakh km is the mark that Maruti advises to replace the timing chain. But they have seen cars that have gone well close to 2 lakh km without timing chain replacement. Most of the 1.3 DDIS owners change it either at 1.2 lakh or 1.3 lakh km on the odo, he said. I might change it this service, that's an additional 15k damage to the wallet.

And this big boy will replace the beloved ciaz until tomorrow. I already miss the "being at home" feel of the ciaz. Storme feels too big and too high. Most importantly, this one gulps twice as much of diesel as the ciaz.
