15-20% is what I'll say the improvement is as the jump in wattage is just by 5W nothing great change is seen but quality of light (read cut off lines etc) is sharper.
Worth spending₹ 1,200? I think I'll give it a Yes unless your primary need is more brightness.

2. I am very impressed with the final outcome of your cabin light and boot lamp conversion DIY. Is it simple remove and replace kind of DIY so that an amateur (like myself) can do? |
Yes, pretty easy and would hardly take 15 minutes to complete the bulb swap.
Like always, superb and detailed DIY posts. This should help all Creta owners. I hope you will keep updating the thread with your progress. Enjoy your ride.
Congrats on your new Creta! So, finally you made the switch from Maruti to Hyundai. You've got some nicely details DIY's there for the Creta. Loved reading those. I sometimes wonder, if the installation/setup is so easy, and if it is already available on the cars sold abroad, why do the manufacturers skimp on such small things? I wish they would sell cars on par with what they sell abroad.
Enjoy your new car, and hope to see this one clocking "lakhs" of kilometers too :)
First off, congratulation on your purchase of this fine vehicle.
Superb thread sir. Love the DIY you have done so far. The explanations for each DIY make this a 5* thread for sure.
Have bookmarked this thread on my desktop to revisit it and keep going through the various modifications and upgrades you are sure to continue on this vehicle.
Hyundai India should link to this thread on its official Creta page so that other owners can know what they too can do to enhance their Creta experience.
Keep the modifications and upgrades coming, a lot of us are surely following the journey of this Creta.
Congratulations! Nice and concise review of the car. Thanks for the detailed description of the modifications done.

I own a Verna 4S CRDi 2015. While the pedal modulation could definitely be improved, I found the brakes more than adequate coming down from decent triple digit speeds. Did you try doing a full brake bleeding? At 28k and 2.5 years, on the ODO, I started facing a reduction in bite, and a full brake bleeding fixed it completely.

What I don't like is when on the highway say at 100 kmph in 6th gear, the RPM hovers at 2100 |
I'm definitely sure you got it wrong here. I hit 100kmph around 1750-1800 RPM on the 6th gear. The Creta being in an almost similar state of tune and gear ratios, should also hit 100kmph at around 1800. Please verify again.

Coming to the gearbox, it took me a few days to realize that the car has a 6th gear too. stupid: |

I haven't let the ASC touch the brakes and haven't thought of getting the brakes bled. Is there is a possibility of the brake fluid being the culprit on a 16,000 kms run car in 5 months?!

Posting screenshots of the details taken from Torque App using an OBD 2 reader.
At 80 kmph @ 6th gear

At 100 kmph @ 6th gear

At 120 kmph @ 6th gear

Oh it was a light joke buddy.
I've been driving from 2006 and all the cars that I have been driving were 5-speed MT's and this is now a 6-speed. It was just a matter of 2-3 days; to remind myself of the presence of the 6th gear.
Always a pleasure to watch a fellow Hyderabadi dirtying his hands with all DIY. :)
Congratulations with your upgrade Anurag.
But why did you settle for 1.6 when you could have got 2.2 beast from M&M with more bells & whistles also it would have helped you more with the ride quality given your medical need now ?
Congrats and a very informative review! I can pick information for my i20 from your thread. Thank you for that. Completely agree with you on the 6th gear cruise RPM part. I wish Hyundai tuned it much lower, preferably below 2000 RPM for 100kmph. It's likewise in my i20 diesel as well but looking at how the Captur has been tuned, I'm actually happy with the tuning Hyundai has provided. Looks like all the manufacturers are focusing more on the bottom end compromising on the top end.
Very good review!
A very well and crisply written ownership review. A detailed review of such nature will surely help the prospective buyers to a great extent. Just few queries though.
What is the price difference vis-a-vis Petrol Creta of the same variant?
Is Diesel the preferred engine option for Creta buyers/ Any particular reason for not opting for 1.6L Petrol?

90% of the time, I'll be the only one in the car so no point in getting XUV 5OO and hail so much real estate that I'll never use.

No idea Sir. I haven't glanced on Petrol cars.

My daily usage is 103 kms which translates to an average of 3000 kms a month hence I got the 1.6L CRDi.

Brakes
Coming from the Swift, the brakes on the Creta are NOT up to the mark especially at highway speeds (above 90 kmph). Again it is the same setup as my Swift (Front = Discs & Rear = Drums).
At city limits, it is sharp and spot-on but as speed increases, brakes feel lazy to kick-in. I have had 3 close encounters with animals on the ORR but sheer luck I could save myself from a nasty outcome. I have decided that I will upgrade the brakes to something better and this shall happen soon. Yes, this is a common complaint that I have seen in reviews and also when I spoke to customers that I met at the ASC. Hyundai is all deaf ears to this and thinks we don't know how to drive. Hopefully the face-lift will have this addressed. |
I recently drove a brand new Creta, and would totally back you on brakes. It was a big disappointment for me, a car as huge as Creta; the breaking system was extremely poor. I escaped rear ending twice, even though I was driving with a alot of distance, with the vehicle driving ahead.
Could never gain enough confidence to drive over 80/90 kmph even on empty highways for entire 150 kms stretch, with a fear of not being able to stop in time.
Being from a Ford Family, I'm used to driving vehicles with superb breaking capabilities, Creta was a huge disappointment.
Paying a hefty amount of 17 L and not getting features like Cruise Control is definatly sad, as such features are now coming as a part of top end hatches.
HU was another pain area, and it was pretty complex & it would automatically switch to Radio from iPod for no reason.
MODIFICATION #16: SensAiry Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
How much I paid for the TPMS @ Amazon.in

Whole unit (without dust cap)
Whole unit (with dust cap)
Manufacturing date of the Alloy wheel :)
Spare wheel (steel rim, thank god tyre size is same as the other 4)
Screwdriver # +2.5 to be used to tighten the sensor to the valve stem
Balancing done
Air filling in process
First sensor reading after fitting
Pressures after a drive of 53 kms
Pressures after the car resting for 6 hours
Pressures after another drive of 47 kms
Shown the Air pressure in it's different units
Shown the Temperature in it's different units

Front: 34 psi
Rear: 33 psi
Spare: 36 psi
Mobile Phone used: OnePlus 3T (128GB version) running on Android 8.0
This is what I have filled in and it is regular air and not nitrogen. I do intend to fill in Nitrogen this time and see if there is any increase in pressures with the same usage pattern as above.
Pretty happy with the setup so far and all that is pending in this is the link to Android Auto so I don't need to have the phone in the vicinity mounted somewhere. Will be regularly updating the long term review on the TPMS as days pass by.
Support levels from the SensAiry teams is fantastic and I have been in conversation with over emails so far.
