First Embera CRDi owership experience on Team-BHP EDIT: 2 years, 28,000 kms update

Finally my noble white Embera CRDi arrived at the dealer's stock yard. As promised he calls me to let me know that container has arrived. Then I rush in the evening to make sure I am present during unload of the car. Here are the early pictures taken with my N95. I will be travelling to korea for business trip next week so the delivery will be on next sunday.
Looks like car has very well designed cold air intake, simple KN stock replacement should be enough in this case.

I have decoded the VIN number for this car with the help of www.hyundai.auto.ru/vin.pdf.
Based on that the car is manufactured in 08. Also the tyres have 0908 markings. Front winshid has 0808 markings while the side windows has 07 markings. Battery is korean brand.

Now that is a VFM package. Congrats on your new acquisition !!! Do post a comprehensive review so that "many a myth be done to death"

My friend has had this car in petrol since 2006. It's great to drive or to be driven in. He got a GREAT discount so the price vs features was incompareable to any other car in it's class.

Did you get a discount on the sticker price ? As another of my friend is thinking of going in for the diesel version & he is 100% driven by his driver.

Enjoy your car & do share the experiance !!!!!!

Cheers

Now that's a first! Congratulations. I always felt Embera did not receive its fair share of reviews, due to it being positioned in a segment dominated by Accord and Laura, and earlier, Camry. A true review will go a long way for people to determine it's true colours.
I think it is a manual, correct?

It very much is the 6 speed manual

The only car sub 20 lakh to feature 6 gear manual ( in India , considering CRV is 20lakh +)

More details regarding the car

Thanks guys for all the wishes. Frankly it's been almost 3 months hunt, too many test drives, lot of calculations, balancing the needs, wants. So at the end of all this I feel relaxed than excited about the car , wierd isn't it.

Now some more details about the car
It's Embera CRDi Ebony White Manual 6 speed transmission.
Based on many car magzine reports capable of 0-100 in around 11 seconds and 200+ top speed. Hopefully I will be able to confirm thse numbers in 2/3 months time. Again based on magzine FE is around 10.5/14.5 city/highway.

Now regarding the price. My deal was closed at 13.7lk Ex showroom price. Since the roadtax , insurance is through car lease conpany no point in mentioning that.

To put it in perspective compare it with Civic V (Which was my next best choice along with top end magnum) which ex showroom is at 12.8lk. So I am paying 1 lakh premium over civic. It's not a fair comparison as they are in different segments but still close in terms of price.

What I get
1. Very refined diesel engine, free revving, fun to drive tourque
2. Car in higher segement , so the ride quality is notch higher
3. Size , which was topmost in my priority list , most of my long distance trips I have 5 adults and 1 kid.
4. 4 years warranty
5. Hyundai service quality/cost . I have almost 4 years old getz and still going strong.
6. Turbo lag in Embera is same as virtual turbo lag in civic.
7 .Projector lamp
8. Large boot for my big family , 560 ltrs.

What I miss
1. Cool interiors
2. Much better interior material
3. High revving near readline shifts.
4. Much better audio setup

In the next post I will post detail driving experience with Embera CRDi.

Congrats on the purchase of a fantastic car! No, it's not weird. It does get physically and emotionally draining, at times.

is it? I am surprised to hear this. Is this in comparison to a Civic?
As a suggestion, i think a rear spoiler will look real cool on your car.
