Excellently Maintained M1000, very rare to see these type of old beauties
Hats Off to your Father
Esteem was my dream car from my childhood, I use to look at every Esteem on my way to School. Luckily I bought 96 Esteem VX 4 yrs ago and running absolutely troublefree.

Re: My Maruti 1000

the_mole's Maruti 1000 made it for Classic Maruti Day on the 16th of December, 2018. It was the only Maruti 1000 in the entire list of cars that attended. The 1000 was an absolute treat to sore eyes! The car looks exactly like how it looked in the first few pictures posted by him on his thread! The interiors of the car too were super clean and honestly well kept. The car has aged very well! A big hats off to the_mole for maintaining the 1000 so well for a time period of more than 25 years!! To be very honest, I think his 1000 is one of or probably the only well kept, genuine and original Maruti 1000 in Mumbai.

The car still retains the original Maruti Suzuki monogram on the rear which has been there since day 1

Re: My Maruti 1000

Hi,

This year I am planning to do up my father's 1994 Maruti 1000. It is not in use anymore since last (say) 10 years now. It has been parked at our factory plot. Recently I went to check it but sadly it has started catching rust on body panels. We tried to start but there was no fuel (might have been evaporated). We poured some petrol into carburetor and engine fired without a fuss until it could get some fuel.

Plan is to spend minimum money over it and make it healthy:
1. clean it inside out
2. get new cheap tyres
3. get it serviced and moving
4. get mechanical bits sorted
5. body work

Everything will be done in stages, at a slow pace, with a minimal budget. Sadly, it is not road legal anymore (1994, DL registered). Let's see.

Only intention is to live those old days again, memories of travelling to school, thinking of modifications to be done on it when I was a kid

Your biggest challenge will be to get genuine spare parts, esp plastic bits and trims, try and buy whatever genuine spares that you might need and keep them safely (try boodmo and/or mgp distributors or old shops where you can get old stock )

You are right, already exploring. But I am surprised about a few bits and pieces still available new. I love Maruti Suzuki for easy availability of spares nearly anywhere in the country, be it Boodmo or MGP stores. Saying this by taking Maruti in contrast with Mitsubishi (have a Lancer & Cedia in my collection)

Re: My Maruti 1000

Hey I know it’s not the right place to mention about it but somebody has been using your car’s photograph as his OLX ad. So telling you was the most appropriate thing I could think of. I tried to message you on Instagram but i guess you aren’t active.

Re: My Maruti 1000

Can anyone share owner's manual of Maruti 1000? Mine is missing. I need to see some details such as spark plugs, gear oil grade & capacity, engine oil grade & capacity, etc.
