re: Story of two Puntos : Third Free service update

Both the Punto's are in the service station today for the Third free service. Luckily there are no major issues with either of them. However, there are small niggles in both of them. I will list down the niggles independently.

Grey Punto : ODO - 28K kms.
1. Screeching noise from Front Brakes.
2. Rear windscreen washer not working.
3. Noise from the suspension while going over a hump.
4. Wipers leaving "lines" while wiping.

White Punto : ODO - 29K kms
1. Screeching noise from Front Brakes.
2. Noise from the suspension while going over a hump.
3. Engine guard heavily dented.
4. Boot lock not working.
5. Driver side door beading damaged.
6. Tar stains on the LH and RH front doors.

Will update about the quality of service once I receive the cars in the evening.

Had got the call from Fiat for the service feedback. Gave them 9/10 for the service. But a 8/10 for not resolving the problem. Fiat told me the dealer will get back to me immediately with an appointment for fixing the issue. So, as promised by Fiat I got the call from the dealer today asking me to bring the car for resolving the issue. have taken an appointment on 26.10.2011.

Excellent service and follow-up Fiat and URS Kar. Thanks.

Just stumble upon the thread. Awesome report. Both damsels look amazing together.
One query, does the high turning radius & heavy steering combo become bothersome in congested roads/parking in tight spots?

Thanks Utopian.

No. I haven't found it to be a problem. I always plan as much as possible when approaching a U-turn. I always keep it my mind and think that I am Driving a "Safari".
While driving in congested roads, I keep my left mirror folded and whenever there is a big vehicle approaching , I fold the right mirror, just to create that extra space.
I never park at tight slots. I have had a bad experience once when the Scorpio parked next to my car, brushed against my left door while he was reversing. The guy just said sorry and zoomed away. So, now I always look for a parking slot fit enough to park a "Safari".

. Safari. Wonder which car would you choice for comparison with the Linea, the elder sister of the Punto. I remember parking the Punto once in a tight spot. It took some time to say the least.

New Tyres for the Grey Punto

Got MRF ZLO 185/70 R14 for the Grey Punto. The OE Bridgestones lasted 30k kms. It rained heavily the day I got the tyres fitted. The tyres performed extremely well in rain aswell. Have already completed 250+ kms on the new tyres. The ZLO's feel very impressive. Each tyre costed INR 3850/-. Wheel alignment costed INR 250/-.
Now for some pictures.

30K sounds less, was the tread entirely worn out ?

How are the tyres on the other punto doing ?

As you can see in the first two photos, the tyres had not completely worn out. There was still some thread left in it. However I decided to change the tyres considering the un-even tyre wear ( myfault, did not get the alignment done on time) and for better tyres.

Its almost the same story on the White Punto as well. Infact one of the tyres suffered a sidewall crack while driving on Shiradi Ghat. The replacement of tyres is planned for next month.

Yes sir. Spot on. This store offered a better package compared to other Madhus stores in Mysore. Infact the store manager was very helpful and also asked me if I was happy with the services. All in all a very positive experience.

Re: Story of two Puntos : Third Free service update

Ok, sorry for not updating this thread for a long time. But actually there was nothing much to update! Both the Puntos are just going about their jobs. The white Punto too got its shoes replaced to MRF ZLO in Jan 2012.

The white Punto has now clocked 71K Kms, while the Grey Punto has clocked 61K Kms. The tyres on both the Puntos look good for another 25K kms!

I recently gave the Grey Punto for 60K kms service. The total bill came upto INR 13261/-. I have attached the invoice.
