Audi West Mumbai & Infiniti Motors Mumbai.
In fact after reading Autobahner's thread I was convinced that the 2.0 TFSI was the one!

Wow so the A4 with WCI is the same price as a Passat. I think I need to make a trip to Audi West.

Managed a good discount probably due to the year end scene. Booked the car March end and delivery in first week of April!

The difference is huge!
That is not possible, the actual price 2.0T is 31.5 on road with wci package.

1.8 with WCI package is 2 lac less and it comes to 29.5 on road New Delhi.

Dont wanna disclose the price of the 520d but its less than 41.5 without BSI package.

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

Possible if you incorporate a 65% NCB and consider registering the vehicle yourself.
Forgot to mention additional 40K for extension of warranty to 4 years.
IMHO it is quite important to go for the BSI. Most BMW owners would concur!
Also if it is the 5er it should be the V6!!

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

523i and 520d which is better?

523i has a 2.5cc engine with 6inline and 520 is 2.0cc with 4inline. The price difference is of 2 lacs, petrol is more expensive.

I have not driven the 523i but the 6 in line looks tempting.

Additional cost for the petrol 523i over 520d

Initial car cost = 200000
The difference between fuel costs for a annual running of 10000 km = ~60000/- ( petrol assumed 7kmpl while diesel assumed 10kmpl)

You intend to keep the car for a minimum of 5 years by which time, the resale value would be about 2 lakhs at least less for the 523i comparatively.

Petrol car maintenance cost could be slightly lesser by 100000 over a period of 5 years.

Net, you would spend close to 200000 + 60000*5 + 200000 - 100000 = 6 lakhs in a period of 5 years. Only benefit would be a free revving I6 motor. But for the fun to drive element, if the car is usually not loaded with rear seat passengers, do drive the volvo S60 petrol. Nothing comes close.

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

ARSC,

523i drives horribly (not as bad as the word sounds, but would avoid it as it poses no particular advantage near the diesels), had it for a day when my car had some work to be done, stick to 520d or 525d,

Regards,

Wow. Am so happy you changed your choice to a 5 series. A Bimmer is a Bimmer .
I sould suggest you get the 525d. There are enough of those around and with good reviews from their owners (check out Sahil's thread for sure). I haven't seen a single 523i on the road, though there is a 320i with a delicious sunroof that parks near my home.

All the best!

You are right, i went for the test drive today and i was so disappointed. The car is 204bhp with 250nw. I just have to say my superb 1.8 drives better.

Buddy, A bimmer is a bimmer no doubt about that.

Bmw india added the stupid screens at the back and increased the prices by 2.14 so now the difference between the 525 and 520 is 7.52lacs which i think is pretty much, what say???

525d will get a new engine here in india maybe this year as it has been changed outside.

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

guys am in the market for an upgrade form my 3 yr old Elantra SX diesel .
As with many before me .. am torn between the A4 and the new Superb . My driving will be limited to approx 25 k per day, so also confused about the eternal dilemma. diesel or petrol ? Also resale 3-4 years down the line is important to me... Am posting some pics (pardon their alignement /resolution!) of the hand outs from Nawab Auto, Noida. Nawab guys have made a nice chart of the differences between the 2 variants (Style VS L&K).. can post those from Audi Noida too if needed. please advice !!!! thanks

PS: Mods may please pardon my amateurish attempts at editing posts..

Do NOT get the current A4. It's due for replacement anytime soon. I was lucky enough to see one in the flesh and it blew my mind. It honestly did. Everything about it is breathtaking. That said, it should cost around the 50L OTR price bracket for the mid variant. That makes it nearly 15L more than a Superb. Whether you feel it is worth spending 15L on what is essentially a better Passat is your choice.

If you value resale value, don't buy new. You can get a 2013 520d for as low as 32L. That's nearly half of what you'd pay for. The value was nearly halved in two to three years! If you buy a 2-3 year used car then you will be safe from the initial depreciation hit. Just make sure the car is serviced, is under warranty and has no issues.

As far as the Superb is concerned, it is pretty much standard affair. Huge car for a relatively small price tag. The car is worth the money, but the badge on the front isn't.

Do note that the VAG group isn't known for their reliability or A.S.S. so you should look into that before making a decision.

Re: Audi A4 2.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI

Will you be driving and will the rear bench be used at al. If rear seat is where you will spend max time superb makes all the sense.

Resale should not be a reason to select either of the cars. Expect similar depreciation and not much to differentiate between the two.

Audi A4 is glorified Jetta. Superb is luxury personified passenger car. Something I would buy eyes closed for getting features and space as good as some luxury cars.

Opinions differ
